What a week! Fair's over, we're all exhausted and trying to get back to normal. 5+ days, working a booth for about 17 hours a day. Still have some cleanup to do.

Thankful for the Ashaway Fire Department for not only chartering us, but also for letting us work alongside them in this booth, raising funds for our troop. Also thankful for Belmont Market for sponsoring our event and for the hospitality of the Washington County Fair staff. Especially thankful for the people of our community that stop by the booth and support us.

Couple highlights from our week...

Ty Herndon came up to our booth and gave us a pizza. I had no idea who he was until after. We see these people throughout the day, not always knowing who's who, then we're working in the booth, so we don't get to see much of the shows. So, forgive me if I didn't recognize the guy! He was friendly though, and it was a kind gesture.

Another highlight... we don't get much sleep during the week, so some of us, especially me, take naps in the chairs behind the booth. Every year, after the fact, I get pictures sent to me of me napping. It's an ongoing joke.

Trying something new this year... it's always a dark alley between our row of booths and the tour buses that the main acts park behind us. So, we're trying out rope lights.

Bake-off tonight. We made 2 cakes... Our better cake went to the staff judges. This cake was for 2 of our scouts that have birthdays coming up. It was so hot out that the lettering was running all over.

A couple scouts from Troop 121 Hopkinton, RI were visiting. They attended and assisted our flag lowering. This is the same flag that flew over the USS Arizona on the 80th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. Maybe we'll get an 85th anniversary flag this year.

The Troop 121 scouts also helped us sing happy birthday and helped devour the cake.

Decent day today. Covered some advancements with a couple of our younger scouts. Took them around the pond before dropping them off at their merit badge in Three Point.

Scouts did their scavenger hunts tonight. We were short a few items, including a jar of Connecticut air. If we had a jar, we could've walked to the Connecticut State line, which actually isn't far.

Looks like I might clear 20,000 steps by the time I get back from the showers. Doing what we can while the weather is tolerable.
