On December 7th the Route 66 Young Marines showed up in numbers to assist with The Shadows Foundation's "Candy Cane Lane" drive through light show. After a long day of setting up lights and decorations for the event they manned their booth where they collected Letters for Soldiers and Toys for Tots. No matter how cold or how long the days are, these fine youth set the standards and do it without complaints. Thank you for your selfless service and always being eager to give back to our communities. RAH!!

Dec 14th 2024
The Route 66 Young Marines spent the morning teamed up with the Seligman American Legion Post 123, The Seligman Fire Department and other guests for Wreaths Across America. It was an honor to place upwards of 50 wreaths for our Veterans. Showing gratitude and respect for our local heroes who put their toes on the line for our great nation.
Afterwards Post 123 hosted a delicious breakfast for us while we all warmed up and prepared for the next mission of the day, Buddy's Market with Mr. & Mrs. Clause.

Having a bad day? Try calling 707-873-7862, a kindergarten class from Westside school made a hotline as a project. They give some pretty awesome pep talks! As we venture into the holiday season, a stressful time for many, I for one could not think of a better way to lift people up and brighten their day.

The Route 66 Young Marines support this project and wanted to spread the word. Hope you enjoy and have an amazing day!

A few more pictures from our Big Sting encampment. A few proud moments, our freshly graduated recruits and YM LCpl Powers got their uniforms in, was a nice surprise as the shop told us it would be at least another week, but when she found out we had a big event coming up she set all other jobs to the side and came through in true fashion. Thank you Sew and Sew! A proud Navy Veteran, she didn't believe in them waiting so she went above and beyond and that I truly appreciate!!

Then of course we captured a sincere moment, a moment full of emotions as our Young Marines embraced each other, reaching into the depths of their hearts and truly complimented each other, bringing not only their motivation up but more importantly boosting each other's self-esteem and showing each individual their worth. Thank you team for reminding us why this program is so important. It was a long hard weekend and they ended it with style.

On September 27th, the Route 66 Young Marines took their drill outdoors to enjoy the fresh air. We began the day with an area cleanup to remove litter from the surroundings. Afterward, we delved into our guidebooks while enjoying lunch.

Next, we broke out our survival gear to go fishing. Though we didn’t catch anything large, we did manage to reel in a few sunfish and a couple of catfish, which would have made a decent meal in a pinch. As the day began to wind down, we took the opportunity to explore the area and watched all our youth race around, having a great time. Team building objective, success!

Despite hitting record temperatures for this time of year, it was still an amazing day spent outdoors.

Oct 10th through the 13th our Route 66 Young Marines spent the weekend volunteering at The Big Sting, a fundraising concert for The Shadows Foundation, Shadows is dedicated to helping those individuals in need who have been affected by life-threatening illnesses, they provide services and financial assistance to our communities families when they need it most. Thank you, Vicki! You and your team are absolutely amazing, keep up the great work.

For three nights and three and a half days, our youth stayed at Watson Lake in Prescott for our encampment supporting the operations and tasks to help make this event as successful as possible and give back to our communities through volunteerism. They were honored with the opportunity to participate in the Flag Ceremony Friday with a few of America's finest active-duty Army. Then on Saturday, the torch was passed off to them. Our Young Marines stepped up and completed the flag ceremony alone, proudly representing our nation's Military, Law Enforcement, and First Responders. Thank you for this amazing opportunity. Although it was a long weekend with long days our youth never complained, crawling out of their tents to do physical training each morning and reporting to their stations each day. I am so very proud of each and every one of you! This was not an easy event, you all came together showing true grit and dedication as you pushed through.

We would like to give our Leadership a gigantic shout-out!
YM Sgt Alldridge, YM Sgt Harrison, YM CPL Rosenkrans, and YM LCpl Trujillo (Reeder), you four had all the pressure on your shoulders, and through it all, you not only came together stronger as a team but came together for your subordinates with true professionalism. Although there are a few moments that will forever be embedded in my heart, the one that got us all (The Adult Volunteers) the most was your huddle early Sunday morning, recognizing each and every Young Marine individually for their hard work and accomplishments, to turn it around as the entire unit recognized the hard work of their Adult Volunteers, leaving every one of us in tears. Thank You!! We could not be more blessed with such an amazing group. If you ever wonder why we do this, just know it's because of you!! You all are worth your weight in gold and deserve nothing but the best.

YM LCpl Powers, I do believe your leadership nailed it when they said you are the true MVP! You have grown into an absolutely amazing young man and an even better Young Marine, keep up the hard work and never change who you are, you are such a unique and loving person that everyone can learn something from. I do not have favorites but you young man are definitely in the running for the number 1 spot(Sshhh don't tell the others). Thank you Powers!

A day of fun! We have all chuckled and made a Major Payne reference, so today, The Route 66 Young Marines became a part of the Madison Preparatory School. After some history on the National Anthem and the moments that led up to heart felt lyrics, we switched over to the lighter side of life and enjoyed a movie and popcorn while dressed as the characters from the film.
So now the real question, what one of these well dressed and squared away Young Marines hit the mark? Who would best fit in with the characters from the movie? We need your vote so let us know.
