Congratulations to Brother Charlie Becker on 50 years of service to the fraternity. We are always so happy to have you, and really enjoyed the fun stories about all of your memories as a Mason. Today we were excited to visit Two By Two Character Development and present them with a check for $2000 to continue the wonderful work they are doing in the community. For those who do not know Two by Two works with 2nd grade children in all public and parochial schools in building character development. And they do this by giving the children " pets" complete with pet carriers and pet journals. The children then learn the responsibility of caring for a pet by working with their parents and the two by two staff over a period of 10 weeks. W.M. Taylor Merfeld S.W. Randy Tolley and S.D. Matthew Shaw were in attendance.

Last night at Mosaic Lodge #125 was a fantastic event. We welcomed two new Entered Apprentices into our brotherhood. A heartfelt thank you to all the brothers who assisted with the degree.

Today, officers of Mosaic Lodge 125 presented a check to the Fountain of Youth, a nonprofit organization that empowers individuals to cultivate a mindset of growth and fosters new ways of life within the community. We are proud to continue supporting their mission. Make sure to go check them out!

Today members of Mosaic lodge #125 had the pleasure of presenting a check to the University of Dubuque for use at the UD Wolter Woods & Prairies donation garden. Brother Taylor Merfeld W.M., and Brother Randy Tolley I.P.M./ S.W. met with administration to present the check. The donation garden is an amazing project where they grow and donate hundreds of pounds of healthy, fresh food to our local food banks and resource programs. We've donated to many of these programs in the past, so it was wonderful to deepen our support.

One of the main focuses of the Grand Lodge of Iowa, A.F. & A.M. this year is combating food insecurity. Across Iowa, all lodges have been asked to collect non-perishable food items at their meetings, which will then be donated to local food pantries. So needless to say, we were very excited to learn about the work they were doing over there at the donation garden and jumped at the chance to support them. We look forward to a bright future where no human needs to worry about where their next meal will come from!

Today Mosaic lodge 125 presented a check to The Red Basket Project of Dubuque. Worshipful Master Taylor Merfeld presented the check with the help of his daughter Eden. We are very happy to support an organization like the Red Basket Project. However, Eden wasn't so happy that she was only allowed one chocolate bar to smear on her Dad's sweatshirt!

We are deeply saddened to hear the news of Dave's passing. He was a proud member and sitting Junior Warden of Dubuque Lodge #3 and was an active member of his community. Rest in peace Brother.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.

The Funeral Service for David will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Bread of Life Presbyterian Church with Rev. Stephanie Ells officiating. Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque.

Now, Sarah asked if there was anything special; that we, as Masons do, and I informed her that if David had requested it, we could do a Masonic Funeral. He had not, and I'm not sure when or how we could do that without prior arrangements.
