President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, a pivotal executive order during the Civil War that declared enslaved people in rebellious Confederate states "henceforward shall be free," fundamentally transforming the war's purpose and paving the way for total abolition. While limited in scope initially (applying only to Confederate states), it authorized Black men to join the Union Army and marked a major step towards ending slavery, making January 1st a day of jubilee for many. THIS IS WHY WE CALL THE 1ST OF THE YEAR WATCH SERVICE. .. Slaves wanted to make sure the Proclamation was real before they walked off the plantation on January 1st

This is the status of unemployment for the end of 2025. We should keep this in mind going into 2026. Start planning now if you haven't done so already of how you want to plan for you and your family. Graph shows unemployment is 4.6 overall ( highest in 4 years) , 8.3 for Black and Brown and 10.6 for our youth!
