Rest Easy Good Boy

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is heartbroken to share the passing of K9 Moose following on-going medical issues. Moose joined ACSO in June 2021 and served faithfully for more than five years, passing away with his handler, Deputy Swartzendruber, by his side, this weekend while out of state at a training.

Over his career, Moose was credited with 98 patrol searches, locating 107 persons and contributing to 49 arrests and 16 arrest assists. He had only seven physical apprehensions. It’s not surprising that most suspects chose to surrender rather than face down a 100-pound Dutch Shepherd on their trail.

Moose was an Explosive Detection Dog (EDD) and Fi****ms, who played a key role in dozens of investigations, deploying 120 times on searches for explosives, fi****ms, and shell casings, leading to 26 evidence finds.

K9 Moose's dedication and service leave a lasting impact on our agency and community. Rest easy, good boy. You will be missed dearly.
