We are proud to honor Cheryl Norton as our Community Citizen Award recipient and invite you to join us in celebrating her remarkable contributions.
Cheryl’s distinguished career in education began in the classroom and culminated in senior leadership roles, including President of Southern Connecticut State University, President of Slippery Rock University, and Provost at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she served until 2004.
Beyond her professional achievements, Cheryl is deeply committed to community service. An active Kiwanis Club member, she supports numerous initiatives, including fundraising for Sweet Dreams in a Bag, providing essential items to children in need, and organizing weekly food backpacks for students facing food insecurity. She also participates in local highway cleanups, large-scale food drives, and volunteer efforts to support under-resourced nonprofits in Arvada.
Cheryl contributes to community events such as local festivals, with proceeds benefiting service projects, and plays a leading role in the Santa House program, which provides gifts to children from Title I schools. Additionally, she serves on the Red Rocks Community Advisory Board and supports the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota by delivering critical supplies, including hygiene products for young women.
Cheryl’s dedication, leadership, and compassion continue to make a lasting impact on countless lives.
