This week, one of our students helped introduce 6 yo Smiling Beast to his first English saddle since retiring from racing. Like many recently , Mr. Beast had a few opinions about the change, testing the waters with some playful bucks and kicks during his free-lunge session.

Our Veteran stayed calm, consistent, and confident throughout, helping Mr. Beast work through the excitement and settle into the lesson.

These early retraining sessions are an important part of preparing horses for successful second careers. They also give our Veterans valuable hands-on experience in horse behavior, training principles, and reading equine body language.

At ~17 hh, Mr. Beast retired sound from racing with no limitations and all the potential for an exciting future ahead. We canโ€™t wait to see where his next chapter takes him.

At 8 weeks old, Denali has been slower to trust than Duchess and Dakota, taking her time to decide that humans might be worth getting to know. This week, she took a big step forward during her first foal handler session.

Head Trainer Simon guided our students through the principles of pressure-and-release training while introducing Denali to a foal handler and her very first halter. These early lessons arenโ€™t about restraint - theyโ€™re about communication, confidence, and building trust.

We wonโ€™t lead her from the halter until sheโ€™s much older, but every calm, positive interaction now helps build the confidence sheโ€™ll carry into adulthood.

For our Veterans, these sessions provide hands-on experience in horse behavior and training. For Denali, theyโ€™re the first steps toward a lifetime of safe and positive human relationships ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿฆ„๐Ÿ’œ

It's no secret, we're falling for Ruby Kiss! ๐Ÿ˜˜

At only 4 years old, this 16.2 HH Thoroughbred mare with our partner, Healing Heroes Through Horsemanship in California, is already showing maturity and steadiness beyond her years. Ruby is exceptionally sweet-natured, level-headed and quietly confident, approaching new situations with thoughtfulness rather than tension. This girl is a dream on the ground and has proven to be willing, uncomplicated and consistent in her work under saddle. Ruby would make a wonderful partner for sports disciplines and would thrive with someone who would continue to develop her foundation while allowing her natural confidence and willingness to shine.

Even though it's the tail end of Month, we're still celebrating all things equine adoption! Learn how you can take Ruby Kiss home using the link below, and if you can't adopt, share this video to help find her person ๐Ÿงก

First introductions between Sol (12) and Smiling Beast (6) ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ

Both are off-the-track Thoroughbreds (aka ), with Smiling Beast recently arriving from the track.

Whenever appropriate, we prioritize group turnout. Horses are social animals, and safe social time can play an important role in decompression, confidence building, and simply allowing them to be horses again.

Stay tuned to see how this introduction ends โ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘€
