We are so grateful to the incredible volunteer groups from Mastercard who spent two Fridays serving at Foster Together! 💛❤️
These teams helped pack Welcome Kits for children who had recently been welcomed into new homes. Each kit was thoughtfully personalized based on the child’s age, needs, and preferences — including outfits, shoes, toiletries, toys, baby items, bedding, and more. What may seem like simple items can make a world of difference for a child navigating a difficult transition.
A very special thank you to Mark Gill for coordinating these volunteer days and for sharing part of his personal story with us. Mark entered foster care at 11 years old and remembers arriving with very little.
“When I was 11, I entered the foster care system, and I remember arriving with very little—no clothing or basic essentials to fill the drawers or medicine cabinet. What I had with me was worn, outdated, and far from what a child should feel confident in.”
Mark shared that this is why Foster Together’s work is so meaningful to him:
“They’ve recognized this need and created something truly special. From the moment a child receives their package, you can feel the impact—it brings comfort, dignity, and a sense of being cared for. It makes a powerful difference in how a child feels during such a vulnerable time, turning what could be overwhelming into something that feels just a little more hopeful and welcoming.”
He also shared, “Laura and her team are doing such powerful work and it felt great to be a small part of all the work they do!”
We are honored that Mark and the Mastercard teams chose to spend their time serving alongside us. Thank you for helping children feel welcomed, valued, and loved from day one. 💕
