DSPs support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they pursue their goals, make choices, build skills, strengthen relationships, and participate in their communities. Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost on September 11, the families and loved ones forever changed, and the first responders, volunteers and neighbors who showed extraordinary courage and compassion. Across Westchester, New York City, and our entire region, we remember the strength that brought our communities together. We will never forget.

This Labor Day, we recognize the entire Opengate team and the dedication, compassion, and commitment they bring every day. As September also marks Direct Support Professional (DSP) Recognition Month, we extend our appreciation to our DSPs, whose work is at the heart of supporting the adults we serve and helping them thrive and lead fulfilling, meaningful lives. To our DSPs and every member of the Opengate team, thank you for the important work you do and the difference you make each day. Wishing our team, the adults and families we serve, and our entire community a safe and enjoyable Labor Day.

We’re kicking off our month-long celebration of our exceptional team of DSPs with a special video featuring three DSPs, Chris, Ernest, and Rebecca, who share what they love about their work and what makes being an Opengate DSP so rewarding.
