This page reflects the official positions of RID Headquarters staff and Board of Directors. The Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc.

(RID), a national membership organization, plays a leading role in advocating for excellence in the delivery of interpretation and transliteration services between people who use sign language and people who use spoken language. In collaboration with the Deaf community, RID supports our members and encourages the growth of the profession through the establishment of a national standard for qualified sign language interpreters and transliterators, ongoing professional development and adherence to a code of professional conduct. Civility Policy:

We will not tolerate abusive, defamatory, libelous or profane statements. Comments that contain one or more violations will be subject to deletion. Users may and will be banned if repeated offenses occur.

💬 What inspired you to become an interpreter?

As a CODA and the oldest child in my family, I often found myself naturally interpreting communication between Deaf and hearing worlds. While interpreting was not originally part of my career plan, after pursuing a few different career paths, I realized that interpreting brought together many of the things I value most: service, problem-solving, continuous learning, and building connections between people. 🤝✨

🌱 What began as part of my upbringing evolved into a fulfilling profession with incredible experiences, meaningful relationships, and a passion for ensuring effective communication access for others.

💬 Tell us a little about yourself

I am a hearing interpreter and CODA from Florida with more than 20 years of experience in the interpreting profession. I hold RID NIC and hold a Master's degree in Criminal Justice and specializes in legal, correctional, emergency management, community, and VRS interpreting.

I currently serve as President of FRID and have presented workshops on secured-facility interpreting, school safety, and interpreter preparedness. I am passionate about mentoring interpreters and promoting effective communication access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals.

🐊 What is a fact about you that most people do not know?

Most people don't know that I once helped catch an 11.5-foot alligator. Needless to say, I wouldn't do this on a regular/ongoing basis — our hands are a little too important! But it certainly makes for a good story.

June 30 to July 4, 2026 was the 58th Biennial NAD Conference, combined with the RID Region V conference - in San Francisco, California.
