🎉 Congratulations to our 2026 Jack Radochia Service Award recipient, Karen! 🎉

As Volunteer Appreciation Month came to a close in April, we were thrilled to recognize one volunteer whose hard work stands out. The Jack Radochia Service Award is presented annually to a volunteer who goes above and beyond in service to Arlington EATS, and Karen is a truly deserving recipient. ⭐️

Nominated by her fellow volunteers, Karen is known for her incredible commitment, reliability, and willingness to help wherever she is needed. She volunteers for multiple shifts each week, supports fellow volunteers, welcomes guests with kindness, and shares her deep knowledge of Arlington EATS to help keep things running smoothly. Here’s what some of her fellow volunteers had to say:

💚 “I can’t think of anyone at Arlington EATS who has given the time, shares her expertise, and has the commitment to Arlington EATS as much as Karen. She just does it all.”

💙 “Karen is a consistently reliable resource for all things Arlington EATS. She knows everybody—guests, volunteers, and staff—and is always willing to lend a hand or go the extra step.”

💚 “She is a fan favorite of our guests, and she loves them, too!”

💙 “When I first began volunteering at Arlington EATS, Karen was incredibly helpful in guiding me through my role as a new volunteer.”

💚 “She makes a meaningful difference in the community and is truly deserving of this recognition.”

Karen’s impact can be felt throughout Arlington EATS, and we are so grateful for her dedication, generosity, and leadership. Please join us in congratulating Karen on this well-deserved honor! 🙌

Thankful Thursday 🙏

A grateful shoutout to Park Avenue Congregational Church, longtime Arlington EATS partners and true supporters of neighbors serving neighbors.

Over the years, PACC has supported our work in so many meaningful ways: showing up hands-on, contributing funding, and sharing a deep commitment to caring for our community.

We are so grateful for their partnership, generosity, and steady belief that everyone deserves support, dignity, and connection. Thank you, PACC, for being a 2026 sponsor. 💚

Thankful Thursday 🙏

Today we’re raising a glass to Arlington Brewing Company, an Arlington EATS 2026 sponsor! 🍻

From Beats for EATS to the Arlington Winter Market, we’ve been fortunate to work together in exciting and impactful ways over the years. ABC has a wonderful way of integrating community into what they do, and we’re lucky to be in community with them. Thank you for showing up for Arlington EATS and our neighbors! 💙

👉 Show them some love at or catch them at a local event this summer!

"I feel like I’m just going to my mother’s house and grabbing something [when I go to Arlington EATS]. It’s like I’m home. I’m someone who gets embarrassed asking for help, but not here. It feels like family now." - J*, an Arlington EATS guest 💙

We’re deeply grateful to J for sharing her story with journalist and Arlington EATS volunteer Kara Baskin to share in our recent newsletter. Her words capture something we think about often at Arlington EATS: that food support is about more than groceries. It’s about warmth, dignity, and community.

Although last fall’s SNAP crisis may have faded from the headlines, many families like J's are still navigating its lasting impacts every day. Read J’s full story in our Spring 2026 newsletter: https://www.arlingtoneats.org/newsletter/spring-2026/

A huge thank you to all of the families who joined us for Arlington Family Connection’s Little Givers service learning event! 💚

The group spent time at Arlington EATS making cards, sorting food donations, and learning about food insecurity. We loved seeing so much compassion, curiosity, and kindness from our youngest community members. Neighbors serving neighbors starts early. 🫶

This week, we’re giving a shoutout to Curtis Reid of WCR Photos, a new 2026 Arlington EATS sponsor.

Curtis captured so many joyful, memorable moments at Beats for EATS this year — helping tell the story of a truly special night for our community. Pictured here, he’s in his natural habitat: behind the camera 📸👏

This Saturday is the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive with USPS/NALC — one of the most convenient ways to support neighbors facing food insecurity right here in our community. 📬💙

Tomorrow (Saturday 5/9), just leave food donations by your mailbox and your letter carrier will pick them up! Here in Arlington, the food collected will be delivered to Arlington EATS.

As you gather your donations, note that Arlington EATS is especially in need of:
- Gluten-free foods
- Canned tuna
- Shelf-stable soup
- Soy sauce
- Personal care items (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes)
- Baby wipes
- Clean grocery-sized paper or reusable bags with handles

Please make sure items are unopened, non-perishable, and within their expiration/use-by dates. 🥫

Thank you for helping make food access a little more accessible — one mailbox at a time. 💚
