🚨📢 We need paper grocery bags with handles!

If you have standard-size paper grocery bags with handles piling up, we’d be grateful for them. We use these bags to distribute food to our neighbors each week.

Bags can be dropped off at Arlington EATS on Tuesdays between 1:00–6:00 PM, or at one of our other community drop-off locations. Visit our website for details. Thanks for your help! 🙏💙

UPDATE: It’s back! Thank you!

🚨 Missing: One very hardworking Arlington EATS shopping cart

🛒 Last seen doing what it does best: Helping carry groceries.

One of our shopping carts appears to have taken an unscheduled adventure and hasn’t made its way home. No questions asked, no awkward conversations required — if you borrowed it, accidentally adopted it, or know where it’s hanging out, we’d just love to have it back.

You can return it to Arlington EATS (117 Broadway in East Arlington), or reach out to us for a pickup. Thanks! 💙

Thankful Thursday 🙏

This week, we're sharing our appreciation for the Arlington Democratic Town Committee - Massachusetts, a longtime supporter of Arlington EATS.

Their sponsorship is truly democratic: built from many individual contributions that come together to make a larger, collective impact. It's a reminder that when neighbors each do a little, we can accomplish a lot.

Thank you to the ADTC and its members for your generosity and continued support of our community! 💙

SNAP is one of the most effective tools for reducing hunger and helping families access nutritious food.

The past year has brought significant cuts to SNAP, but now the Senate has an opportunity to protect and strengthen this critical program. Join us in urging our senators to support a Farm Bill that restores and safeguards SNAP for the millions of people who rely on it. Take action today: https://projectbread.quorum.us/campaign/160551/

A special moment at Arlington EATS this week: several Arlington High School class of 2026 grads who volunteer with EATS stopped by in their caps and gowns for a quick, celebratory visit. 🎓

Teen and young adult volunteers are a vital part of our community. Their time, energy, and compassion make a real difference in our work. And, we love that Arlington EATS feels enough like home that they chose to stop by and share this milestone moment with us. 💚

Thankful Thursday 🙏

Thank you to our friends and partners at the The Greater Boston Food Bank for helping to power our work year-round, and most recently for funding new flooring for EATS Market. Talk about supporting Arlington EATS from the ground up! 👣

This new flooring creates a more dignified and durable environment for the thousands of neighbors, volunteers, and staff who move through our doors.

Food access starts with a strong foundation, and investments like this help ensure our space is safe, welcoming, and built to support our community for years to come. Thank you, ! 💙

👩‍🌾 The Arlington Farmers’ Market is back for the season — and it opens TODAY!

Join us every Wednesday from 2:00–6:30 PM, June through October, at Russell Commons (29 Mystic Street, Arlington Center) for fresh produce, local food, baked goods, specialty products, and more from an incredible lineup of local vendors. We’ll be there, ☔️ or ☀️!

As a program of Arlington EATS, the Arlington Farmers’ Market is also an important part of food access in our community, helping eligible residents stretch their food budgets through using SNAP, HIP, and Fresh Bucks. Big news! 📢🎉

Arlington EATS has launched a new Mini Market at Drake Village, a satellite location of our EATS Market that brings free groceries directly to seniors and adults with disabilities living at Arlington Housing Authority’s largest residential community. 🏢💙

By offering fresh produce, proteins, pantry staples, and household essentials for free right where residents live, the Mini Market helps reduce barriers to food access, allows us to reach more neighbors in need, and allows us to accommodate more guests at our main EATS Market due to sustained high demand. 🛒

Excitingly, the Mini Market is also home to the Cook & Thrive Senior Nutrition, a new initiative which pairs food access with nutrition education, healthy meal kits, and other wellness supports. This work is being done in partnership with Tufts University, led by led by Dr. Kelseanna Hollis-Hansen and including a wonderful team of students from Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy.🍎

Thank you to Arlington Housing Authority and Tufts University for making this pilot possible, and to our community for your support in getting this project launched.

Read more about the Mini Market’s exciting launch at the link in the comments, and please consider giving to support the first, pivotal year of Arlington EATS’ Mini Market today.
