Nearly 500 students. Four cities. Countless memories.This graduation season, Communities In Schools and Whataburger came together to celebrate more than diplomas—we celebrated perseverance, resilience, and the journeys that brought students to this moment.

From Atlanta, Athens, Nashville, and Charlotte, students were honored with unforgettable experiences, surprise gifts, graduation photoshoots, college and career celebrations, and moments that reminded them just how far they’ve come.

The smiles. The tears. The laughter. The gasps when iPads were revealed. Every moment was a reminder that our students are seen, valued, and supported.

Because graduation isn’t just about crossing a stage—it’s about stepping confidently into what’s next.

Big things are happening in Maryland! 🎉

Communities In Schools is expanding into Maryland through a new partnership with ALL4LOVE, backed by a $1.08 million investment from Blue Meridian Partners that will help bring critical support services to students across Dorchester County Public Schools.

Over the next three years, five full-time site coordinators will be embedded in schools throughout the district, connecting students and families to the resources, relationships, and opportunities they need to succeed.

This investment is more than funding it's a commitment to ensuring every student has someone in their corner and the support needed to reach their full potential.

Congratulations to ALL4LOVE, Dorchester County Public Schools, Governor Wes Moore's ENOUGH Alliance, and everyone working to create brighter futures for Maryland students.

Every diploma tells a story.

And thanks to new research from Opportunity Insights, Harvard's EdRedesign Lab, and Cornell University, we now have independent evidence showing that CIS support helps students graduate and increases lifetime earnings.

🌟 Alumni Spotlight: Meet Dr. Adriana Rocha Garcia

Adriana’s path shows how support structures like Communities In Schools (CIS) can be a catalyst for first-generation college success and lifelong service.

Growing up in a family with limited financial resources, Adriana’s academic and personal resilience led her to become the first in her family to earn a college degree, pursue a doctorate, and serve her community as a city council member.

Today, Adriana serves on the CIS of Antonio Board of Directors and is the inaugural President & CEO of the Center for Health Empowerment in South Texas (CHEST), an initiative focused on closing the health equity gap.

Her story connects CIS’s early supports to leadership roles that ambitiously expand opportunities for others.

to Leadership Townhall 2025 🎤

One of the standout moments from Leadership Townhall 2025 was hearing Angie Carey, Associate Vice President of Community & Partnership Engagement at , share an important reminder about the power of being present.

In a world filled with constant distractions, Angie highlighted how meaningful connections, active listening, and showing up for one another can positively impact brain health and overall well-being. Her message reinforced something we believe deeply at Communities In Schools: when people feel seen, supported, and connected, they are better equipped to thrive.

Being present isn’t just about where you are physically—it’s about how you engage, connect, and care for those around you.

Congrats, Kiana! 🎓

Becoming a mom during high school brought major challenges, and at one point, Kiana wasn’t sure she’d be able to return for her senior year. But with the support of Communities In Schools of Tennessee and her site coordinator, Ms. Takeisha, she found the encouragement, resources, and support system she needed to keep going.

From helping provide baby essentials and replacing lost car seats after a flood, to creating a support network so Kiana could stay in class, CIS helped make sure she never had to navigate this journey alone.

Now, Kiana is thriving academically, balancing three part-time jobs, leading her peers, founding her school’s first dance team, and preparing for her next chapter after being accepted to the University of Tennessee Chattanooga.

Her story is proof that when students have trusted adults and the right support, amazing things can happen. ✨
