IN BRAZIL, THE BIGGEST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION

CALL FOR PRESENTATION PROPOSALS
IACA 16-19 SEPTEMBER 2018 CONFERENCE AT IGUAZU FALLS, BRAZIL

The International Association for Court Administration (IACA) will host its 2018 international conference in Iguazu Falls, Brazil on 16-19 September 2018. The conference theme will be THE RULE OF LAW IN A MULTICULTURAL WORLD, focusing on four broad topics areas:

 BUILDING STRONG AND COMPETENT INSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORKS
PROVIDING EQUAL ACCESS TO JUSTICE
ADVANCING ZERO TOLERANCE FOR CORRUPTION
INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGICAL APPROACHES

 Topics

ICT (Information and Communication Technology)
Access to justice
Effectiveness of Justice in remote places
Judicial Power and the combat against transnational crime
Performance and transparency in the Judiciary
Ethics, codes of conduct
Principles of good court facility design
Budget and financial management in courts

The Conference agenda will include presentations and discussions in English, Portuguese or Spanish, selected from two sources:

 Individuals invited by the Agenda Committee for their expertise and experience
 Presentation proposals submitted in response to this solicitation. They will be of two kinds:

a) PRESENTATIONS will be 1-hour sessions, including discussion. Most presentations will be scheduled as breakout sessions running simultaneously with others, each in its own suite at the conference hotel. Selected speakers will be urged to prepare PowerPoint slides to accompany their presentations and to share on the conference website.

b) Besides breakout sessions, we will have a new kind of short presentations, named PITCH. All participants can send one experience of success in his/her country, on Court Administration, to be presented in the plenary room, in no more than 3 minutes. If one country has more than one candidate, the IACA´s Vice-President of the region will choose one of them. The use of Power Point or any other resource is not allowed. Pitch´s goal is to present a new practice and those who liked it will able to keep in touch with the presenter later.
