ACOI joins the osteopathic medicine community in mourning the passing of resilient and dedicated physician, educator, and civil rights leader William G. Anderson, DO. Dr. Anderson was an inspiring force in his commitment to service and equity, and he will be greatly missed.

Last year, Dr. Anderson spoke with ACOI Past President Susan M. Enright, DO, MACOI, and shared his belief that physicians remain leaders of change in society and laws to make life a little better for the people we serve. Dr. Anderson truly lived this out and leaves an inspiring legacy that will certainly ripple through the work of this community's physicians, leaders, and educators.

“Our profession is so very proud of Dr. Anderson and all that he accomplished," said AOA President Richard R. Thacker, DO, MACOI.

"Information is abundant. Technology continues to advance. But wisdom, judgment, empathy, and human connection remain irreplaceable. These are not uniquely osteopathic virtues. They are the virtues of good physicians. What osteopathic medicine offers is a philosophical framework that intentionally cultivates them."

In this month's Letter from Our President, Damon Baker, DO, MACOI, reflects on the power of the osteopathic philosophy. Read more: https://www.acoi.org/blog/more-manipulation-philosophy-practice
