After years of applying, we finally got our “yes.” ♥️

We’re honored to announce that Hearts of Empowerment has been selected for the Spur Local, formerly Catalogue for Philanthropy Class of 2026! This is a milestone we’ve been working toward for a long time, and we’re incredibly grateful to join this year’s cohort.

Spur Local is one of the DC region’s most respected nonprofit accelerators, and being selected is an incredible honor.

Thank you to our students, families, volunteers, partners, donors, and everyone who’s believed in us along the way. This recognition belongs to all of you. Let’s goooo!

Meet the newest part of our Pathways to Opportunity program: Student Success Coaches that specialize in offering Social and Emotional Support to our students!

These coaches walk alongside our students every step of the way, helping them overcome obstacles, celebrate wins, and build a future they’re excited about.

We’re always looking for new ways to create even more opportunities for the young people we serve, and this trip was a big step in that direction. Can’t wait to share more when the time is right.

ALLOW US TO INTRODUCE OUR EMPOWERMENT AWARD WINNER 💜👏🏽

Join us in giving a huge congratulations to our 2025 Empowerment Award recipient, Geolonnie Richardson!

The Empowerment Award recognizes a student who consistently shows up, leads by example, and empowers those around them through their actions. Geolonnie has done exactly that.

Whether it's encouraging her peers, staying committed to her goals, or bringing positive energy everywhere she goes, Geolonnie has truly earned this recognition.
