Big crowds gathered this weekend at the George C. Marshall Center of the Department of State, exploring our sprawling collection of books, art, textiles, artifacts, stamps, and music from all over the world! Yesterday alone saw nearly 1,500 people perusing global treasures. If you missed your chance this weekend, don't worry! Next weekend we'll open doors to the public once more. We urge you to arrive before 2pm as the volume of people this weekend meant we had to close the line outside at around 2pm.

AAFSW Seeks Community Gatherings & Events Volunteer

Love bringing people together?

Help create fun, welcoming gatherings where AAFSW members, volunteers, EFMs, and the broader community can connect, make friends, and enjoy time together.

From monthly Happy Hours and Community Coffee to lunches, cultural outings, walks, and local adventures—bring your ideas and we’ll help you make them happen!

Your Role:

Come up with ideas and help organize gatherings.
Choose fun, welcoming places and activities.
Coordinate the basics with the AAFSW team.
Help promote the event and welcome attendees.
Make newcomers and first-time guests feel at home.
One gathering at a time.
What we are looking for:

Someone with initiative, a friendly spirit, and a love of bringing people together.

No event-planning experience needed. AAFSW provides support and guidance, you take the lead and make it happen.
