Capital District of Key Club International

Capital District of Key Club International Capital District is part Key Club International, comprised of clubs in DC, DE, MD, VA & WV. Each of these clubs falls within one of the 32 divisions.

The Capital District has a rich history and is a staple within Key Club International. As of September 2020, the Capital District has 11,660 members from 219 clubs. Each division is represented by a Lieutenant Governor. Capital District’s first organized Key Club was Andrew Lewis High School in Roanoke, Virginia, chartered on April 11, 1946. However, the oldest active Key Club is Abingdon High School in Abingdon, Virginia. This club was chartered on October 19, 1946 and has since been an active club in the district. In February, 2011, the Capital District Board ratified the adoption of the crab as the district’s official mascot, better aligning itself with the Capital District Kiwanis Family.

From July 1-5, 2026, a great group of Capital Crabs were able to attend Key Club International Convention in Dallas, Texas for an unforgettable experience participating in elections, attending meaningful workshops and the GLC Masterclass, and forming connections with Key Clubbers from across the organization!
