LAT MOVE INTO MOS 0321: UP TO $116,000 KICKER BONUS

Marines executing a lateral move (LATMOVE) into the Reconnaissance (0321) PMOS can qualify for a Selective Retention Bonus (SRB) totaling over $116,000. This includes a Primary MOS bonus plus a $50,000 LATMOVE kicker for Zone A E-5s who sign an 84-month (seven-year) reenlistment.

https://www.marines.mil/News/Messages/Messages-Display/Article/4485875/solicitation-for-qualified-marines-to-lateral-move-latmove-into-the-reconnaissa/

Eligibility Requirements
To successfully transition into the 0321 field, you must meet the following baseline criteria:
* Rank/MOS: Open to volunteers who are corporals (Cpl) or sergeants (Sgt) of any MOS.
* ASVAB/GT: Must possess a GT score of 100 or higher.
* Fitness: Requires a first-class score on both the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Combat Fitness Test (CFT).
* Screening: Must be a U.S. citizen, eligible for a Secret security clearance, and pass the Reconnaissance screener.
* Obligated Service: Must agree to a mandatory additional obligated service period (such as the 84-month contract for the maximum bonus kicker).

Bonus Payout Structure
The Marine Corps structures this retention incentive with two major parts:
1. Primary MOS Bonus: Eligible Marines may rate a large base PMOS bonus depending on their zone (e.g., up to $66,500 depending on your rank and zone criteria).
2. LATMOVE Kicker: If you reenlist for 84 months, you will receive an additional $50,000 “kicker” on top of your primary MOS bonus.

Reserve Opportunities
If you are transitioning to the Selected Marine Corps Reserve (SMCR), you may also qualify for a Retention and Affiliation Bonus (RAB) rather than the active-duty SRB. Reserves are typically offered 24-month or 36-month obligation options ($10,000 for 24 months and $20,000 for 36 months).

2026 complete!

Ten MRF Athletes represented nine Gold Star Families from the .alabama.marines

In the Competitive Team Division, our teams finished 1st and 3rd overall.

We’re proud of our athletes, but more importantly, we’re grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside these Gold Star Families and represent something bigger than ourselves.

Great night out at the with MRF Athletes showing up in support of .alabama.marines and Project Pathfinder during the Kid’s Race. Proud to stand on the sidelines and cheer on the next generation—events like this are what it’s all about.

Tomorrow, 10 MRF Athletes will step into the arena representing the Gold Star Families supported by Central Alabama Marines Council in both the Competitive Team and Competitive Individual divisions.

This is bigger than a race. It’s about showing up, honoring those who gave everything, and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with their families.

Never above you. Never below you. Always beside you.

The Marine Reconnaissance Foundation (MRF) and MRF Athletics are proud to announce that the MRF Expedition Branch (ExBranch) will conduct its first full-team training evolution from March 26–31 near Bozeman, Montana. With seven ExBranch members in attendance, this milestone marks a significant step forward in building cohesive, expedition-ready capability in technical mountain environments.

Over four intensive days, the team will focus on developing Team Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) alongside hands-on training in essential alpine disciplines, including team glacier travel, crevasse rescue systems, avalanche awareness and rescue operations, and foundational technical mountaineering skills. We extend our sincere thanks to Montana Alpine Guides for their professional support in facilitating training areas and instruction.

This evolution is designed to establish a strong operational foundation for future expeditionary objectives while reinforcing the teamwork, communication, and decision-making required to operate safely and effectively in complex mountainous terrain.

The team will operate out of the MTNTOUGH headquarters in Bozeman, Montana. As a strategic partner of the MRF ExBranch, MTNTOUGH is providing access to their training facility to support mission planning and preparation. In addition, MTNTOUGH will lead targeted performance training sessions tailored to the physical demands of high-altitude and technical mountain environments.

Beyond technical training, this evolution emphasizes the importance of dedicated team time—critical for rehearsals, cohesion, and building sustainable operational capability. MTNTOUGH will also deploy a videography team to document the evolution, capturing the training and mission that define the ExBranch, including how MRF honors and supports Gold Star Families through purposeful expeditionary experiences.

This training evolution reflects the ExBranch’s commitment to disciplined preparation, sustainable capability development, and a culture of safety, as we continue to expand the reach and impact of Marine Reconnaissance Foundation expeditions in support of our teammates and Gold Star Families.

“Exceeding beyond the limitations set down by others shall be my goal.”
