Library of Congress Launches New “Our Constitution” Podcast Series

In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the Library of Congress is launching a new 21-episode podcast series exploring the lasting influence of this foundational document on the Constitution and American government.

“From Grievance to Governance: How the Declaration of Independence Informs the Constitution,” examines the grievances against King George III that Thomas Jefferson outlined in the Declaration and explores how those experiences — and the broader historical events surrounding them — influenced the framers as they drafted the Constitution in 1787.

Hosted by Library attorney Jeanne Dennis, the series explains the Declaration’s grievances in an accessible and engaging format, offering students, scholars, researchers, public officials, historians, writers and the public a trusted resource for understanding the origins of the nation’s governing principles.

As we approach a historic milestone—the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026—I am filled with pride for the extraordinary women who serve in federal law enforcement. This year, we celebrate not only the birth of our nation but also the enduring legacy of courage and service that defines the American spirit.

For 250 years, the United States has stood as a beacon of freedom, opportunity, and justice. Women in federal law enforcement have played a vital role in upholding those ideals, especially after Executive Order 11478 opened the door to full participation in August 1969. Today we continue to lead—steadfast in our pursuit of excellence, professional in every action, and unwavering in our commitment to protecting our communities and the Constitution we swore to defend.

In this commemorative year, let us reflect on how far we have come and recommit to shaping the next 250 years. WIFLE members embody the strength and dedication that keep our nation secure. Your daily service—in investigations, protection, intelligence, and community engagement—strengthens the fabric of America and inspires the next generation of women leaders in law enforcement.

As we celebrate America250, I encourage each of you to take pride in your contributions, connect with one another, and keep advancing our shared mission.
