As we step into October, it’s a fitting time to reflect on the small yet powerful changes that shape both our personal and professional lives.

The Ethiopia Initiative is now in its second month. The Book Of The Month for October has been shared by Selamawit Gebreyesus, – Atomic Habits by James Clear.
The book inspires and reminds us that the habits we cultivate either work for us or against us. These habits are the building blocks of who we become—and as a community, they determine how we grow together.

IAPHL focuses on small, intentional habits to strengthen our community:

- Weekly Office Hours: Convening every Thursday during office hours to connect, discuss, and network.
- Spontaneous Calls: Staying open to those unplanned conversations that often spark the most innovative ideas.
- Moderated Discussions: Ensuring we have continuous learning through structured conversations on our listserv.
- Resources and Tool Sharing: Sharing on the listserv what we’ve learned and the resources we’ve gathered with the entire community.
- Networking and Connecting: Building stronger professional bonds that extend beyond the screen and into our day-to-day work.

Don’t forget—October is Cancer Awareness Month.
Let’s take this opportunity to promote health, awareness, and support for those affected by cancer in our circles and beyond.

Wishing you all a productive and meaningful October!

We invite you to dive into the - Atomic Habits by James Clear. A powerful reminder that the habits we develop either work for us or against us, shaping our personal and professional lives alike.

In health supply chains, this principle holds true. The "good" habits strengthen our systems, while the "bad" ones weaken them.
So let us reflect! What habits are driving success in your health supply chain? And what habits are holding us back?
How can small, consistent changes, can transform our health systems to deliver remarkable results?

On World Pharmacist Day, let us bring to your kind attention the term Pharmaceutical Supply Chains.

Pharmaceutical supply chains are one of the most complicated logistics processes.
Not only do they rely upon infallible temperature control and meeting stringent border regulations across regions, but logistics providers also must guarantee the integrity and security of the products throughout the process.

A single loose link in the chain could mean that costly and essential pharmaceuticals and biological products are left in an unusable or even potentially dangerous state, with the spin-off problems associated with a lack of adequate vital medicinal stocks or even legal procedures.

Role of Pharmacist in Supply Chain.

Pharmacists are medicines experts with an essential role to play in the full range of activities of the supply chain, from the production of medicines (both industry scale and extemporaneous) to their administration to patients, and after. Starting with the production and supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and the production of medicines, through the distribution of medicines to wholesalers, storage and repackaging of medicines, and distribution to pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, etc., supply chain activities go on to include medicines selection and administration, and end with medicines used by patients, including individual counseling, follow up and pharmacovigilance.

What kind of role(s) do pharmacists play in the supply chain in your respective countries or systems?

Your comments are much appreciated, we love to hear about your experience!

Happy World Pharmacist Day.

Warehousing is crucial in the product value chain, whether for raw materials, intermediate goods, or finished products.

Well-orchestrated warehousing operations and enhanced capacity of the local warehousemen would be central to ensuring efficient distribution and reliable stock holding of products and as an effective linkage between the suppliers, manufacturers, and the market in the regional production network.

💡 What are your thoughts on this topic? Feel free to share your insights in the comments!
