ECDC's mission is to resettle and assist refugees and immigrants to lead a life of dignity, attain self-sufficiency, and integrate successfully into their new communities in the U.S. ECDC was established in 1983 as a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) community-based organization in Arlington, Virginia. In 1991, ECDC became the first ethnically-led organization to be authorized by the Department of

State to resettle refugees through the U.S. Since that time, ECDC has resettled more than 66,000 refugees from around the world across its network of resettlement affiliates throughout the U.S. ECDC is led by individuals who are passionate about assisting refugees and immigrants based on their background and experience. ECDC specifically aims to empower a network of similar organizations that are founded and/or led by former immigrants and refugees. Local office staff provide case management services to newcomers and connect them to generous and caring community volunteers and organizations. Together, staff, volunteers, and service providers assist newcomers with initial resettlement tasks such as finding housing, enrolling children in school, securing employment, learning English, accessing health services, registering for public benefits, adjusting to American culture, and more. With non-federal funds, ECDC seeks to amplify the voices of refugee leaders in different ways and take action on causes meaningful to them. ECDC undertakes special projects to innovate, advocate, educate, and co-create in order to expand opportunities for displaced persons both within the U.S. All re-posts, shares, and articles ≠ endorsements
