With the begining of the new school year, we would like to congratulate our 2025 scholarship recipients. Pictured below is Ernesto Maldanado, a 2025 Wakefield High School graduate, who is now attending Colorado State Univeristy and majoring in mechanical engineering. He received the scholarship awarded in honor of Paul Schoeppe. In the photo with Ernesto are Paul's daughters Heather and Michele. The scholarship awarded in honor of Suzanne Schoeepe was given to Sanjana R, a Wakefield graduate now studying at George Mason Univeristy.

Our other 2025 recipients, all Wakefield grads, were Eva Z and Dulce C, who are attending the Unvivesrity of Virginia, Ariana M and Mohamed M, who are attending George Mason University, and Krubel A, who is now attending Virginia Commonwealth Univeristy.

As always, we would like to thank all of you have supported Good Sports over the past 20 years. None of this would be possible without you!

Many thanks to all of you who made donations, purhcased raffle tickets, and came out to Good Sports of Arlington's 19th Annual Holiday Party last night at Port City Brewing Company. Thanks to your generousity, we raised over $20,000 for our fund that provides college scholarships to gradautes of Wakefield High School in Arlington. We couldn't do it withouut you!!!

Good Sports of Arlington is proud to announce its 2024 scholarship recipients. Eight Wakefield graduates received grants through our annual program. They are Mena Brook, Aaron Klug, Javier Ortez, Nermine Ben Hammouda, Dulce Castillo, Mohamed Mohamed, Sara Tefera and Yabeke Zike.

This year, an additional scholarship was awarded in memory of Suzanne Scheoppe. The award was funded by donations to Good Sports by Suzanne's family and friends after her passing in early 2023. The recipient, Stephanie Claure, is a 2024 Wakefield graduate who will begin her college career at George Mason University in the fall. She plans on majoring in forensic science and pursuing a career in law enforcement. Stephanie, her father Henry, and Heather and Michele Schoeppe are in the attached photos.

Since Good Sports began our scholarship program, we have worked extensively with the Arlington Community Foundation to help administer it. ACF assists us in selecting the recipients, processes all the required tax forms, and completes the other reporting that would otherwise preclude us from making these awards. We can't thank Jenn Owens, ACF's president, and Natalia Muniz, ACF's program manager, enough for their assistance this year.

Finally, we would like to once again thank all of you for your continued support over years. We could not do this without you!!!

The group consists of three members of Wakefield High School's class of 2021 and five past Wakefield High School graduates. Hello to those at Good Sports! My name is Yabeke Zike from Wakefield High School, and I received your scholarship through the Arlington Community Foundation. I just wanted to send this note to say thank you for this opportunity and that I am deeply saddened that we were unable to meet and celebrate in person due to the pandemic. However, this does not change how much this scholarship means to me as it tremendously helps me and my family with my upcoming college costs. Also, I wanted to notify you that I will be attending Brown University for the next four years with a double concentration on computer science and economics. I am definitely looking forward to college and this donation makes this experience easier, so thank you again!

Congratulations to Tom Davis, the winner of last night's 50-50 raffle. Tom, being in the holiday spirit, donated his winnings back to Good Sports. Thanks to Tom's generosity and the generosity of ALL OF YOU who purchased raffle tickets and made donations, we are nearing $12,000 in funds raised for our scholarship program from last night's event.

The fourteenth of our Good Sports of Arlington 15 Memories in 15 Days is all of the all the Holiday Party attendees who came festively attired. Whether they were wearing their favorite holiday dress and hat or wearing their favorite holiday t-shirt or sweater, they always brightened up the party.
