Rising gas prices have put a strain on the volunteers of Meals on Wheels of Wake County, NC, who make sure seniors get the meals and moments of connection they need every day. Increased funding is critical to helping Meals on Wheels providers cover rising costs.

Meals on Wheels relies heavily on volunteers who pick up the meals and deliver them to senior citizens throughout Wake County.

Satish was one of more than 400 seniors on his local Meals on Wheels provider's waitlist. Diabetes, memory loss and repeated falls made cooking meals dangerous for Satish; for months, he struggled to get by.

Everything changed when Satish started receiving Meals on Wheels. Nutritious meals were delivered to his door five days a week and Satish regained not only his strength and independence but something to look forward to. Across the country, thousands of seniors like Satish are on Meals on Wheels waitlists, waiting for the food, connection and care they need now.
