Last night I had the privilege of attending a special evening at the Recovery Café in Everett, hosted by the Snohomish County Recovery Coalition. The event honored an incredible member and leader in our local recovery community, Jasmine Donahue of Hope 'N Wellness, with the Ripple Award. 🌟

Jasmine and her organization have contributed so much to the recovery community in Snohomish County, helping many, many people find new lives and new paths to recovery and wellness. Congratulations, Jasmine, on this well-deserved recognition!

It was a fun evening all around. A big thank you to Eric Velez ("EV") for all his help coordinating the evening, to the amazing Recovery Cafe kitchen staff for preparing fantastic food, and to the Board of Directors of the Snohomish County Recovery Coalition for all their hard work. đź’™

Holman Recovery Center was honored to present at the annual probation officer training conference at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center in Burien.

Camille Nelson (Counselor), Alyssa Speed (Peer Services Director), and Austin Speed (Peer Services Supervisor) spoke on substance use disorder treatment and peer services — and how we help people whose addiction has brought them into contact with the criminal justice system. They did an outstanding job and were very well received.

Thank you to Mindy with the Washington State Misdemeanant Probation Association for the invitation. We look forward to presenting again in 2027!

🥎 THE BALLIN' BRATZ - CHAMPIONS! 🏆

Please join us in congratulating 'The Ballin' Bratz' — winners of the 2026 CSSA Northwest Championships and your E Division State Champions!

The Clean and Sober Softball Association tournament was held this past Sunday at the Pasco Sports Complex in the Tri-Cities, and our team brought home the title.

This one means a lot. Holman Recovery Center is proud to sponsor The Ballin Bratz, and even prouder of who's on the roster — former clients, staff, and a board member, all playing side by side. That says everything about what this community is.

Yesterday we said goodbye to one of our own.

When Holman Recovery Center opened its doors to welcome it's first staff members on December 6, 2021, we were 17 people and one bold idea — that people struggling with addiction deserved a residential inpatient program right here in Snohomish County. Only three of those original 17 are still with us. And now, we're down to two.

Sophie Haines started as a Recovery Monitor and never stopped building. She helped create our art and horticulture program. She was the first person promoted to Lead on the Recovery Monitor team, and when that role became the Behavioral Health Technician position, she became our first BHT Supervisor. Under her leadership the Peer Services program blossomed — especially through the Peer Groups she developed, which clients loved and which connected directly to the recovery work they were doing here.

From there she moved into Business Development, where she helped HRC grow from a regional resource into a statewide one for residential substance use disorder treatment.

But what people will remember most is her heart. Sophie always answered the phone. And whoever was on the other end — whether they ended up here or somewhere else entirely — she helped them find a way to recovery.

Sophie is moving on to help first responders facing substance use and mental health challenges get the care they need. We can't think of anyone better for the job.

Thank you, Sophie, for everything you gave our program, our clients and all of us. Holman Recovery Center is what it is today because of you & we will miss you! ❤️

September is National Recovery Month.

At Holman Recovery Center, we get to witness something remarkable every day: people choosing Recovery. Not once, but again and again — in the difficult moments, in the honest conversations, in the quiet decisions no one else sees.

It takes real courage to step out of addiction and onto a path of healing. To ask for help. To believe that a different life is possible before you have any proof that it is.

To everyone in Recovery — those with years behind them and those counting days — we are proud of you. To the families who held on, and to the people still deciding whether to take that first step: Recovery is possible, and you don't have to do it alone.

The Story Behind the Design
Recovery is a journey—one step at a time.
This design was created to represent the road from addiction to freedom: the steps taken, the battles fought, and the life being rebuilt along the way.
The shoes symbolize the walk of recovery. Not a perfect or easy path, but a decision to keep moving forward—sometimes one day, one hour, or one step at a time.
The socks tell more of the story through the words, colors, and details woven throughout the artwork. “Get Clean. Stay Clean.” is simple, but powerful. Getting clean is the beginning. Staying clean is where the journey continues—through community, accountability, courage, grace, and choosing a different way of life.
Every detail is intentionally a little raw and imperfect because recovery is real life. It can be messy. It can be hard. But it can also be incredibly beautiful.
This hoodie represents the people who have walked that road, the people walking it today, and the reminder that every step forward matters.
Keep walking. Your story isn’t over.

A Night to Remember. A Time to Act.

Holman Recovery Center was honored to take part in the 10th Annual Snohomish County International Overdose Awareness Day at the Snohomish County Plaza.

International Overdose Awareness Day is a time to remember the people we've lost, stand with the families still carrying that grief, and recommit to preventing the next loss.

Representing HRC were Jackie Booth, Matisse and Jim Gilson, & their daughter Kalie Matisse! They spent the evening connecting with other providers, community organizations, and families, and sharing information about HRC and recovery resources available here in Snohomish County.

We were there because awareness saves lives. When people know what help exists and how to reach it, and when substance use is met with compassion instead of shame, barriers to care come down.

Thank you to the organizers and to everyone who showed up to remember, to connect, and to act.
