The ENDependence Center of Northern Virginia (ECNV) is a community resource and advocacy center run by and for persons with disabilities. ECNV’s mission is to END dependence by empowering people with disabilities to live independently. We are a cross-disability organization and work with people of all ages who have every type of disability. Founded in 1982, ECNV is one of 15 Centers for Independent Living (CILs) in Virginia. There are over 400 CILs nationwide. ECNV serves Arlington, Fairfax, and Loudoun Counties and the Cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, and Falls Church. Most of our services are provided at no cost. ECNV provides the five core services of every CIL:

Technology is changing fast, and it can feel like the world isn't waiting for anyone. At ECNV, we see the people we serve running into new barriers every day: forms that are only online, appointments that need an app, and devices that cost money and take time to learn. Digital Access helps you catch up and keep up at your own pace. Peer mentors show you free tools already on your phone or computer, like having a letter read out loud, turning on captions, or talking instead of typing. We slow things down, help you learn what you need, and you decide what works for you.

🙏🏽In an effort to embrace and welcome the neurodiverse members of the community, Nativity Catholic Church in Burke, VA, will be hosting a monthly Sensory Mass on the second Sunday of every month. The next mass will be on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at 1:00pm with Father Jordan Evans. All are welcome to attend! A special invitation is extended to any person in need of sensory accommodations. 🙏🏼

On Monday, October 12, 2026 of the Indigenous Peoples Day:

Metrorail service will run on a weekend schedule from 5 a.m. to midnight, and Metrobus will run on a Saturday and supplemental schedule. Regular fares apply on holidays. Metro Access subscription trips are cancelled on the holiday, but riders may make reservation requests. Parking is free on federal holidays at Metro-owned lots and garages.

According to the Official City of Alexandria website: On Monday, October 12: DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday-Sunday schedule. Lines 102, 103, and 104 will not operate.

The King Street Trolley operates from King Street Metro to City Hall/Market Square with service every 15 minutes, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, including holidays.

Please note that DASH Administrative Offices will be closed in observance of the holiday.
