Happy National Ag Day! The grain foods value chain starts on the farm. Millers are proud of the role we play in delivering safe, accessible, and affordable nutrition to millions of Americans every day.

Today, we celebrate the hardworking farmers and ranchers who feed our nation and the world. Wheat growers play a vital role in our agriculture community, growing the grain that nourishes families, supports communities, and drives economies both at home and abroad.

Thank you to everyone who made our 2026 Spring Conference a success! A record-breaking number of attendees from across the milling value chain met in Florida to learn from experts on critical topics facing the food and agriculture industry.

“This year’s event is a prime example of how NAMA continues to provide industry leadership and relevant, solution-focused service for the milling industry amid ongoing uncertainty in D.C. and the marketplace. As our products are being challenged – despite being foundational to diets and health for centuries – opportunities to reaffirm our values as an industry are more critical than ever,” said NAMA President Jane DeMarchi.

NAMA statement in response to Florida bread product testing results:

Bread is safe for you and your family. The grain foods supply chain delivers safe, accessible, and affordable nutrition to millions of Americans every day.

Glyphosate helps farmers control invasive weeds that can harm crops. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) regulate the use of glyphosate together, including residues that could be on or in food products.

While claims of glyphosate in the food supply are meant to scare consumers, it is important to recognize that the trace levels reported in Florida’s test results are more than 100 times lower than levels that could pose a risk to human health according to the EPA.

Millers follow the science, and more than 40 years of rigorous monitoring and scientific evaluation have determined that glyphosate use on food crops is safe. The health and safety of our consumers will continue to be the milling industry’s top priority.

You may have seen recent headlines about glyphosate testing reported recently in Florida. Here’s the context. 🍞

Even at the highest glyphosate level reported recently in Florida, an adult would have to eat about 600 loaves of bread every day for life — and a child about 300 loaves per day — to reach the conservative safety limits set by U.S. health authorities.

Glyphosate residues are tightly regulated by EPA and routinely monitored by USDA and FDA. Wheat farmers trust this science-based system because we feed our families the same food we grow.

An important reminder: grain foods like bread are an easy, affordable way to add nutrition to everyday meals. 🍞
