Three years.
Today, we remember the 1,200 murdered on that horrific day. We remember the families who buried their children, the communities that torn apart, the lives that ended at a music festival and in homes along the envelope.
We remember the heroic soldiers who fell, outnumbered while fighting like lions to hold their positions. We remember the men and women of the kitot konenut who ran toward the gunfire to defend their own communities. They were farmers, teachers, and neighbors who had trained for something they prayed would never come.
This is the first anniversary with everyone home, the living and the fallen. We hold their families in our thoughts.
In the years since, the hate that day unleashed has reached Jewish communities far from Israel, in cities and synagogues and neighborhoods around the world. What it has also revealed is a community that keeps showing up for one another.
May their memories be a blessing.
