🎓 Applications are now open for 2027–2028 Navy League Foundation Scholarships!

Eligible high school seniors from sea service families — including qualifying U.S. Naval Sea Cadets — can now apply for scholarships that help make higher education more affordable. New this year is the $20,000 Frederick O. Harper Scholarship, supporting eligible students pursuing degrees in Engineering or Bio Sciences.

Two ships, one hometown, and a September full of connection in the Heartland. ⚓

The Navy League of Greater Kansas City welcomed Sailors from USS Kansas City (LCS 22) and USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) for back-to-back namesake visits.

USS Kansas City: The crew presented a flag flown aboard the ship at Union Station’s 25th anniversary 9/11 remembrance, volunteered with local nonprofits, visited the Missouri Veterans Home and talked Navy life with middle schoolers.

USS Harry S. Truman: The delegation toured the Truman Presidential Library and Museum, received a city proclamation and met students at Truman High School and Ruskin High School’s Marine Corps JROTC.

Bravo Zulu to Council President Dave Miller, National Corporate Secretary Ward Cook and the Greater Kansas City members who made it happen.

Welcome home, USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72).

The Lincoln and her crew of roughly 5,000 Sailors and Marines have returned to San Diego following a 321-day deployment, one of the longest carrier deployments in recent Navy history.

The Navy League extends its sincere thanks to all who supported this deployment. Your commitment ensured the Lincoln remained mission-ready from departure to return.

We are proud to welcome the crew back to homeport. Well done, Lincoln.⚓

Welcome home, USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. (DDG 121)! ⚓

On Sept. 28, the destroyer returned to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam after 10 months operating with the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group across the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operations. As the ship came in, Vice Adm. Joe Cahill, Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, greeted her from the USS Nevada Memorial, a tradition reserved for warships returning home.

From the Middle East to the Indo-Pacific, this crew delivered when the nation needed them. They proudly carry the name of Lt. Gen. Frank E. Petersen http://Jr., the Marine Corps' first Black aviator and first Black general. We're grateful to every Petersen Sailor and to the loved ones who supported them through every mile. Enjoy some well-earned time together in Hawaii! 💙

This morning, the Navy League of the United States welcomed BGen Tom Siverts, USMC, to our September Special Topic Breakfast.

BGen Siverts, Assistant Deputy Commandant, Combat Development and Integration/Deputy Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Command, shared insights on the Marine Corps’ efforts to modernize its Force Development Enterprise, accelerate capability delivery and ensure the Fleet Marine Force remains ready to meet an evolving strategic environment.

Now is the time to make your voice heard on the SHIPS for America Act.

America’s maritime strength depends on a robust U.S. shipbuilding industry, U.S.-flag fleet and maritime workforce. As Congress works to finalize the FY2027 National Defense Authorization Act, the Navy League is advocating for inclusion of provisions from the SHIPS for America Act.

The Navy League is asking members and supporters to contact their U.S. senators regarding S.1541 as Congress continues work on the FY27 NDAA.

Use our Voice to Congress campaign to send a prewritten message to your senators asking that they demonstrate their support of including these provisions in the final bill by cosponsoring S. 1541, the SHIPS for America Act.
