The Chief of Naval Operations is coming to Hampton Roads.

This Wednesday, Admiral Daryl Caudle, the 34th Chief of Naval Operations, will headline STATE OF THE NAVY: Readiness, Innovation, and Warfighting, hosted by the Navy League’s Hampton Roads Council.

Admiral Caudle will share his perspective on Foundry, Fleet, Fight and what readiness, innovation and warfighting mean for our nation’s maritime security. We look forward to an important conversation about the challenges and opportunities shaping today’s Navy and its future.

For the better part of a year, the Sailors and Marines of the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group have been at sea.

What began on Nov. 21, 2025, as a routine deployment from San Diego changed in January, when the Lincoln was redirected to U.S. Central Command. The strike group has now spent more than 200 days in the combat zone, held forward, far from home, with extraordinarily limited port access.

The Navy is working to relieve the strike group and bring these crews home. Until that relief arrives, these Sailors and Marines continue to conduct combat operations on station. Even once they are relieved, a long journey home still lies ahead.

Working through Navy League councils across the West Coast and Hawaii, we are raising funds to support efforts such as welcome-home and post-deployment receptions, awards and recognition events, and programs that bring returning Sailors, Marines, families and local communities together.

The U.S. Coast Guard's FY2027 budget request seeks $15.6 billion to grow the service by 15,000 active duty members, modernize its aging fleet and expand its presence in the Arctic.

This builds on a 2025 law that delivered $24.6 billion for Coast Guard modernization, the largest capital investment in the service's history. Leaders say sustained funding is critical to closing staffing gaps and keeping pace with growing missions in border security, drug interdiction and maritime commerce.
