From yesterday’s drag story hour.
This is why we do it…
The “Texas Public Policy Foundation” ran an article in June entitled “Why Can’t We Get Rid of Drag Queen Story Hour?” The entire article centers around the idea that “Drag Shows are Blackface” and while Blackface is a racist, offensive stereotype started to mock enslaved Africans in minstrel shows, the author claims drag queen story hours make a mockery of womanhood. “…drag carries the same hate-filled message contained in blackface, except it is directed at women.”
Since when do white Christian conservatives care about “womanhood?”
The connection is a lame one no doubt and the article goes on…
“According to its perpetrators, the goals of the Drag Queen Story Hour movement are to teach ‘imagination, self-expression, and the fluidity of gender at every age. Through glamorous, playful, and proudly q***r role models, it creates joyful spaces that reflect the diversity of the world we live in.’”
Exactly! And we have the pictures to prove that!
And maybe that’s why Texas can’t pass an anti-drag law.
