As a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), I may be qualified to analyze recent events that had the commandant of midshipmen publish the "Diversity Education Program" as an USNA standing order on how to "foster a culture of inclusion across the Yard."

It is inconceivable that instead of promoting unity, strength, and courage among other noble attributes of military leaders, the U.S. Navy and specifically USNA are advancing that midshipmen are to be assigned as agents of this diversity nonsense and that these young, impressionable students

• serve as a walking safe space for peers and

• facilitate discussion among company-mates to ease the tensions surrounding diversity topics.

These are actual bullet points from material used to train midshipmen in executing this destructive diversity directive on the Yard.

What is a "walking safe space"? Can a person be a "space"? If I were a midshipman, I would run from such an assignment, with demerits accrued if necessary.

“… I am announcing the USNA Ring Return Campaign. The goal will be to collect and package as many USNA graduates' class rings, starting with my own 1991 USNA class ring, and jointly send them back to the commandant's office as a show of solidarity against the madness overtaking the once great institutions of higher learning such as USNA. If I am the only one who sends his ring in, so be it.”

To answer Too Tall, I think the forum audience is convinced she is a "diversity hire," not selected on genuine merit. That said, after several years of deep-diving research into form Midshipmen's bios, I have reached two, non-scientific impressions:

(1) Being Brigade Commander should not be extrapolated into major Service career success. These individuals do not seem to make Flag at a rate greater than any other members of the class, and they have rarely achieved naval fame. Leadership roles at USNA (stripes) seems to make little difference, but sports team leaders DO seem to excel in their careers at a greater rate.

(2) Class standing is perhaps the worst predictor of career success. Some of our greatest admirals and generals have been average or below-average students at USNA.

Conclusion: The Brigade organization, while it COULD be a genuine military command structure with all the bells and whistles, it always has been little more than a superficial, cosmetic creation for parades and march-ons. Many things prevent its realistic functions, especially the traditional power held by each class, and the "don't bilge a classmate" maxim. In an actual Navy or Marine unit, a CO or Flag would not hesitate to drop the hammer on a transgressing subordinate, even if they were another Ring Knocker a year junior to him/her. USNA's command structure is a kiddy playground with shiny objects. This Brigade Commander seems to confirm it.

Care packages “Treat a Midshipman: How to Order Essentials for Your USNA Student”

USNA at Large thinks this is pandering on the part of NABSD, and dinosaur alums are mad theirs got raided (or that they never got any) and that USNA feeds plebes at all. The fact is care packages, cookies, whatever have been around since militaries and postal services have existed. The more enlightened on USNA at Large claim it isn't "woke" (therefore not "bad"?) but so what if it was? We care about our people, it doesn't make us weak. If you doubt that then watch the news right f'ing now.

“Every student needs snacks from time to time; but, the midshipmen also need items that help keep their uniforms looking crisp and products that help them stay healthy and injury-free during their rigorous athletic requirements.”

For many reasons, the Naval Academy is not your average college. So it stands to reason that the USNA student supplies go beyond typical college requests.

USNA MIDN Masking up in Class
- USNA requires masks indoors regardless of vaccination status
- IAW instructions at all military installations
- Masks not required outdoors
- King Hall allows unmasked eating (for vaccinated?) - a change from previous rules where mids ate only within their groups
- USNA Chaplains seem to break the rules based on posted photos with priests without masks

Why does USNA at Large report this as news? Because they are partisan hacks who think anything mids do is not good enough. We're shocked that they love to hit modern humanities studies as not preparing mids... they love to imply POC are not able to hack it in STEM... but then on their own page they push anti-science garbage! For example, Denise complains about any masks she sees in official photos... and (questionably qualified medical administrator!) V L Cassani III pushes the falsehood that masks are like "a chain link fence to keep out mosquitors" (FACT - they're not. The virus can go out in droplets; the masks are effective at keeping droplets from spreading from person to person; and their effect cascades).

These people are exactly what grads should NOT be; no development in mind and character and unworthy of high responsibilities in command, citizenship, and government. Mids, if you want examples of "conduct unbecoming," check out their comments.

Facebook, Capital Gazette Newspapers please note that USNA at Large continually changes Diversity, Equity and Inclusion into an implicit death threat ("DIE") and that they have encouraged threats against faculty. USNA Will Require Masks at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for Home FB Games this Year
- Unvaccinated: At all times when not socially distancing (6 ft at least)
- Vaccinated: All indoor spaces
o E.g., restrooms, elevators, indoor section of the club level (Akerson Tower), inside private suites and the five press box levels
- Proof of vaccination will not be required
USNA AD Gladchuck:
- No restrictions on fan attendance (USNA hopes for a sell-out crowd for the opening home game with Marshall on 4 September 21 and the USAFA game a week later

Brigade returns to USNA this week
- 1/C return by 1800 today
- 2/C & 3/C by 1600 tomorrow
- Non-vaccinated MIDN will be tested upon arrival and be required to wear masks outside if not social distancing
- About 98% of MIDN have been vaccinated – USNA expects that to be 100% by mid-September – IAW DoD requirements
- Fall Semester begins Monday
- Herndon Climb for Class of 2023 still on for Sunday with formation at 1300 and the climb starting at 1330 – USNA still hasn’t got the info for live-streaming
