After four incredible years serving as the Arlington School District’s Resource Officer, APOA member, Officer Bauer is wrapping up his assignment and returning to patrol.

Throughout his time in the schools, Nate has been much more than a police officer. He has been a mentor, role model, trusted resource, and positive presence for countless students, staff, and families. His dedication to building relationships, supporting students, and strengthening connections between law enforcement and our community has left a lasting impact.

The influence he has had on the lives of these kids extends far beyond the classroom walls, and the relationships he built will continue to make a difference for years to come.

Thank you, Nate, for your heart for serving others. We are incredibly proud of the work you’ve done and grateful for the legacy you’ve left behind.

Please join us in welcoming Nate back to patrol with open arms. If you see him around town, be sure to give him a wave! 👋🚔

The APOA is heartbroken over the passing of K9 Oso. His loyalty, courage, and unwavering dedication to this community are something most of us can only hope to live up to. Over 16,000 calls, countless lives impacted, and a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Thank you, Oso, you were more than a K9, you were family, a teammate, and a symbol of what service truly means. The Rainbow Bridge gained a true hero today. We’ll see you again 🖤🐾

The Arlington Police Officers Association is excited to spotlight Chief Jonathan Ventura as we kick off the month of April!

Chief Ventura’s career with the department spans more than two decades, beginning in 2000. His commitment to service started even earlier! Prior to APD, he served in the US Navy. Over the years, he has held a wide range of roles, including Detective, School Resource Officer, Master Patrol Officer, Sergeant, Deputy Chief, and ultimately Chief in 2016. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration!

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chief Ventura has been instrumental in building strong relationships within the community. He has helped create and played a key role in programs and events such as Holidays with Heroes, National Night Out, Touch a Truck, Coffee with a Cop, the Neighborhood Liaison Program, and the APD Volunteer Program, just to name a few.

Most importantly, Chief Ventura is a dedicated dad and a leader who truly cares about both his officers and the community he serves. He has built a strong, respectful, and collaborative working relationship with the APOA. He listens to his officers, values their input, and leads with fairness and transparency. That kind of leadership matters, not just within the department, but for the entire community.

The APOA recognizes Chief Ventura and the leadership he brings to our department every single day. We are proud to work alongside him.

We’re taking a pause from Meet the Officer Monday to honor Trooper Gadd and remember his service and sacrifice. Two years ago today, he gave his life in the line of duty, making the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

Today, we reflect on his dedication, courage, and commitment to protecting the community he so proudly served. As we remember him, we’d like to share a brief look at his life, his career, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Trooper Christopher M. Gadd, a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and protector of our communities. Chris was born in Pasco and worked hard to serve others, earning his EMT certification before joining the Washington State Patrol in 2021. He graduated top of his class from the academy and went on to proudly serve in Marysville with unmatched dedication and compassion.

At just 27, Chris was taken from this world in the line of duty on March 2, 2024, struck by a motorist while conducting safety enforcement, a heartbreaking reminder of the risks our law enforcement take every day to keep us safe.

He leaves behind his wife and their young daughter, a family forever changed by his sacrifice. His legacy lives on through the Top Academic Award at the WSP Academy, now named in his honor, and in the “One More Stop” patrol initiatives that continue to save lives in his memory.

Chris, we remember you today and every day; thank you for your service, your heart, and your courage 💙

We ♥️ Officer Bauer!

Shoutout to our School Resource Officer, Nathan Bauer! 👏

February 15th was School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, recognized by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO), and we want to celebrate the incredible work our SROs do every day. 💙

We are truly grateful for Officer Bauer and the positive presence he brings to our schools while keeping students safe- one hallway hello (and one great conversation) at a time. 🤝✨

SROs do so much more than support safety: they build relationships with students, serve as mentors and role models, and work alongside staff and families to help create a supportive learning environment. Whether it’s a morning greeting, a school event, or a moment when a student just needs someone to to talk to, our officer is there!

From Officer Bauer: “What I like most about being an SRO is the opportunity to make a meaningful, long-term difference in students’ lives. Whether it’s helping a student feel more comfortable around police, being a positive adult who simply listens and shows interest, or stepping in to support a student facing challenges outside of school—those everyday interactions are what matter most to me.”

Drop a note of thanks for Officer Bauer below! 👇💙
