As such, the mission is to promote the well-being and betterment of mankind, and particularly to sponsor programs that address the needs of the community, with special emphasis on programs for families, cultural activities, and programs and services for y

outh, elderly, and disadvantaged persons to enhance their quality of life. Based on our mission, the IFNV strives to enhance the quality of life for the community that we serve by:

Providing scholarships
Making charitable donations
Promoting community service activities
Raising funds to support its theme: “Building Communities through Education and Empowerment”
Volunteers

Projects and activities sponsored by the IFNV are primarily supported by members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®, Zeta Chi Omega Chapter, and occasionally other members of the public.

Community impact grows stronger when nonprofits, businesses, and local leaders work together with a shared vision for the future.

The Ivy Foundation of Northern Virginia was honored to attend the 2026 Alexandria Chamber City Council Breakfast and hear thoughtful discussion from our City Council members on the opportunities and challenges shaping our community.

From economic growth to education, infrastructure, and community well-being, one message was clear: collaboration matters. When community organizations, businesses, and civic leaders come together, we create stronger pathways for opportunity, innovation, and lasting impact for all.

Today, we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, mentors, and mother figures who inspire generations through love, leadership, sacrifice, and education. Every lesson taught, book shared, encouraging word spoken, and dream supported helps build stronger families and brighter futures for our communities.
