ICYMI - APS updated their PIP for Homework for Elementary School to require daily numeracy and literacy practice to complete outside of the school day. We are very supportive of this extra time to practice, and "encourage a student's sense of responsibility, develop a sense of personal accountability, promote learning and improve study habits" (language taken directly from APS’ former homework PIP, which was removed in 2022 despite our advocacy at the time.). We have also advocated, and will continue to advocate, for timely and consistent feedback on homework so that students are practicing and reinforcing skills correctly.https://go.boarddocs.com/.../I-11.2%20PIP-1%20Homework.pdf

Today’s day off is a reminder of a bigger issue:

APS students have just 15 full five-day weeks all year — about 35% of the calendar.

Learning depends on consistency.
The current structure makes that harder to sustain.- http://eepurl.com/jEfGK6
