Worried your past might be holding you back from a job offer? A free fidelity bond could help.

Through a program supported by the Texas Workforce Commission, some job seekers can get a free, six‑month insurance bond that protects an employer if something dishonest happens on the job (like theft). This can make employers more comfortable hiring people who:

• Have a criminal record or justice system involvement
• Have poor credit or a history of substance abuse
• Are on public assistance or are disadvantaged youth with little work history
• Were dishonorably discharged or turned down for bonding elsewhere

There’s no cost to you or the employer for the first six months, coverage usually starts quickly, and the bond is typically for $5,000 with no deductible.
