Reminder: The Care Package Drive is today at the Arlington High School front parking lot from 11am-2pm to try and get boxes donated for Christmas time! Students of a local class at Arlington has chosen Operation Care Package as their charity/community organization to help with this year! Greatly honored to have been chosen and hope to see some people out there! 🙂

UPDATE: The packages from Operation Care Package have arrived at their FINAL destination! Unfortunately pictures cannot be posted due to operational circumstances, however, the Soldiers are EXTREMELY grateful! Thank you to everyone to helped, donated, and assisted with everything! I want to give everyone a quick update on Operation Care Package: we are working diligently with the USO to expedite the shipping process. It is our first time doing this so I appreciate everyones patience while we work out a few things. The packages WILL be shipped ASAP. Updates will be posted when shipped, in transit, and upon arrival! Thank you everyone!

We cannot express how grateful we are at the turnout we had at Operation Care Package!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you to ALL who came out and donated, those who showed support, and all the volunteers we had! We could not have done this without the help of all of you. We would like to thank the Arlington Volunteer Fire Department, and the Hancock County Sheriffs Office who came out to help give us a hand and show their support for the troops!! Thank you all for this amazing turnout! 🚒🚨🚔📦📦🥾

Thank you everyone who came out and showed support/donated to Operation Care Package!! It was a great turnout and got a great amount of items to send to our troops. We are going to be out there tomorrow again from 2-5pm at the Arlington High School parking lot. We are hopeful for a great turnout tomorrow aa well!

*UPDATE* At Operation Care Package we will be selling snacks, pop and water for those donating and volunteering. All proceeds from these extra items will go towards postage to send the Care Packages. EVERYONE who donates items and/or money for postage will recieve FREE military merchandise from our local recruiters!

We are aware of the many local Veterans who are NOT currently a Member of the VFW. Want to be apart of a fraternal organization, with a unique bond between other Combat Veterans? The VFW has been the nations leading veteran service organization since 1899, bettering the lives of all those who have worn the uniform of the U.S. military!

If you are a veteran who has served overseas, we would like you to apply and join our local VFW. Heres how:

Requirements for Eligibility:

1. CITIZENSHIP- Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national

2. HONORABLE SERVICE- Must have served in the Armed Forces of the United States and either received a discharge of Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions)

3. SERVICE IN A FOREIGN WAR, CAMPAIGN, OR EXPEDITION- An authorized campaign medal. Receipt of Hostile Fire Pay or Imminent Danger Pay

By becoming a VFW Life member, you make a lifetime commitment to serving your fellow service members and veterans. That's something to take great pride in.

Congratulations to Lance Leisure as he left for USMC Bootcamp today!

High School: Arlington High School

Branch: United States Marine Corps

MOS: 3432- Marine Finance Technician

Interests: Arlington All Brass Marching Band, where he played the trombone. Arlington Soccer team member, and even was a referee!

Check out our VFW Drill Team today! These ladies and gentlemen performed the 21 Gun Salute at various cemeterys throughout the morning starting at 8am, for a total of NINE ceremonies performed this Memorial Day!

We want to thank everyone for coming out to Arlington Cemetery today in support of Memorial Day. It was a great turnout and much appreciated by the Arlington VFW and all of our Hometown Veterans!
