We’ve seen an amazing response from the community for the new Radio Operations and Readiness School (ROARS) program — thank you to everyone who has already registered!

Because many families were busy during the February school break week, we’ve decided to extend the registration deadline to March 13 so everyone who is interested has another opportunity to sign up.

We’ve also added two additional Q&A / Information Sessions at the Arlington Community House if you'd like to learn more before committing:

📅 Tuesday, March 10 — 7:00 PM
📅 Thursday, March 12 — 7:00 PM

This program is completely free, open to youth and adults ages 12+, and introduces participants to the exciting world of electronics, radio communications, and real-world technical skills while preparing them to take the FCC Amateur Radio licensing exam.

Youth (ages 12–18) receive free radios, antennas, a study manual, and we even cover the FCC license fee.

Adults are welcome too and can participate and obtain their license for only the FCC licensing and exam fees (typically under $50 total).

⚠️ Space is limited, so if you're interested we encourage you to register soon before spots fill up!

Pull up a lab bench and join us as Tim Rice interviews our founder, Peter Pavlovich. They’ll be discussing the details of our inaugural 'Primary Wave' syllabus and what's in store for this maiden voyage.
If you are interested in having your youth participate—or if you would like to enroll yourself—be sure to register soon! Space is limited, and registrations close on March 6th.

In association with the Arlington Vermont Lions Club, the Lions Radio Relay League (LRRL) is excited to announce the launch of Radio Operations and Readiness School (ROARS) — a free STEM and Amateur Radio education program for youth ages 12–18 in Arlington and surrounding communities.

ROARS introduces students to the science and technology behind radio communications through hands-on learning, demonstrations, and guided instruction. Participants will be prepared to take the FCC Technician Class amateur radio licensing exam, and those who successfully complete the program receive free radio equipment to help them get on the air.

Beyond technical skills, ROARS offers students the opportunity to develop problem-solving abilities, confidence, teamwork, and a spirit of public service — while becoming part of a worldwide community of amateur radio operators who communicate across towns, states, countries, and continents.

Families are invited to attend any of four no-obligation informational Q&A sessions at the Arlington Community House to learn more about the program. Additional details, schedules, and registration information are available at: https://lrrl.org/youth or contact us by email at [email protected]
