Meet our intern, Eric!

Eric is a rising senior at John Hersey High School. After high school, he would like to attend college for construction management, help grow his dad's business, and hopefully take it over one day.

He also plays varsity lacrosse 🥍 and like to go to the gym in his free time. A fun fact is that he has a cat named Lucy who is a year and a half old.

This summer, Eric hopes to learns how to help manage and run a business.

The Foundation is excited to have Eric on board at the Foundation this summer! ☀️

The D214 Education Foundation is proud to facilitate scholarships at all D214 schools, totaling over $116,000. Before graduation, D214 schools held scholarship and awards events to recognize students for their achievements. Foundation staff and Trustees attended these ceremonies and events to help present some of these impactful scholarships. 🎓️

We are incredibly grateful to all of the donors and community supporters who make special moments like these a possibility for students! ❤️

Happy to the High School District 214 Center for Career Discovery! The Center for Career Discovery is the driving force behind opportunities like internships and apprenticeships for our D214 students. This year, with the help of over 300 community partnerships, they supported over 1,100 work-based opportunities, including 52 youth apprenticeships, more than 600 student internships, and 200 work placements for students in special education programs. This work truly enhances our students, schools, and community.

Thank you for all that you do! ❤️

Meet our intern, Jackson! ⭐

Jackson is a rising senior at Buffalo Grove High School and is excited to join the District 214 Education Foundation team this summer.

At Buffalo Grove, Jackson is a dedicated student-athlete, competing on both the varsity soccer ⚽ and varsity track 🏃 teams. Outside of school, he enjoys golfing, working out, and walking his golden retriever, Chelsea. One fun fact about Jackson is that his favorite place to be is on the beach.

Through his internship with the Foundation, Jackson hopes to gain first hand exposure to the professional world, develop new skills, and explore different areas of business as he begins planning for college and his future career. He is eager to learn, contribute to meaningful projects, and step outside of his comfort zone by taking on new challenges throughout the summer.

We are so happy to have Jackson on the Foundation team!

Last Friday, Foundation staff had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Industry Partner Breakfast, hosted by the District 214 Center for Career Discovery.

Our fantastic Foundation intern, Olivia, who worked with us from September 2025- May 2026, attended as well, and was able to share her experience as a part of the Foundation Team with event attendees.

Olivia is now a graduate of Wheeling High School, and will go on to study journalism at DePaul University. We are so proud of you, Olivia! 🎓️

Work-based learning provides incredible opportunities for students to develop the skills they need to be successful beyond high school.

The Foundation is proud to support our D214 student apprentices by funding tools, uniforms, transportation, and more. Check out what some of this year's apprentices had to say about their experiences!
