This Pride Month, we’re proud to share an important conversation featuring Angela Watson as she discusses why LGBTQ+ youth are disproportionately represented in foster care and youth homelessness systems.

Every young person deserves safety, support, and the opportunity to thrive exactly as they are.

At Shelter Youth & Family Services, we believe awareness leads to action, and action changes lives.

Thank you, Angela, for lending your voice, leadership, and compassion to this important conversation.

Our Chief Development Officer, Kristen Daniels (pictured with her father), recently reflected on how fortunate she is to have had someone in her life who believed in her, encouraged her, and helped shape the person she is today.

Not every child has that kind of support. At Shelter Youth & Family Services, we work every day to provide safety, stability, and hope for young people facing difficult circumstances.

This Father's Day, we invite you to honor a father, grandfather, mentor, coach, or father figure who made a difference in your life. Your tribute gift can help ensure children and families receive the support they need to thrive. Consider making a monthly gift of $15 or more in their honor and create a lasting impact throughout the year.

Shelter staff share "What Pride Means to Them."🌈

For many, it means being able to show up fully as themselves. It means feeling seen, accepted, supported, and safe — and making sure young people feel that too.

This month, we’re sharing reflections from Shelter staff whose compassion and authenticity help create a more welcoming world for LGBTQIA+ youth every day.

Their voices are part of what makes Shelter a place of belonging. And there’s a place for your voice, too.

Stand with LGBTQIA+ youth. When you support Shelter, you are helping to create a community where every young person knows they are valued exactly as they are.

A special thank you to Kada’s Promise for donating dozens of teddy bears to Shelter. In difficult moments where young people face trauma or experience crisis, the little bears offer emotional comfort and can help reduce a child's fear, anxiety, and feelings of isolation. Partners like Kada's Promise understand how small things can make a big impact. To learn how you, too, can make an impact, visit https://www.shelter-inc.org/

Pride Month is a celebration — but it’s also a reminder that every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, and free to be exactly who they are.

At Shelter Youth and Family Service we support LGBTQIA+ youth, not just in June, but every single day. Through safe and supportive housing, counseling, and compassionate care, we work to ensure young people feel seen, valued, and never alone. Every identity matters. Every story matters. Every child deserves belonging. And with your support, we can continue creating spaces where LGBTQIA+ youth feel safe, accepted, and empowered to thrive.
