ls and families. Since 1969, HandsOn Suburban Chicago (HOSC) has been fulfilling its mission "to positively impact communities by connecting people to enriching volunteer experiences." HOSC mobilizes people to lend their time, talents, and voices to increase the capacity of nonprofits and schools and drive change in 44 suburban communities. HOSC refers volunteers to 100+ community partners and harnesses the power of volunteerism to benefit at-risk students, enable vulnerable populations to age in their homes, and improve communities by providing critical resources to high-needs people. HOSC partners with nonprofits, schools, and government bodies, providing services to underserved populations, including victims of violence, people with disabilities, veterans, seniors, youth, and those needing food, shelter, mental health services, and other vital assistance. These organizations are crucial in addressing substantial community needs for underserved and marginalized individuals and families. Increasing access to resources can help to level the playing field for those who face disparities. HOSC connects people to opportunities through its 24/7 searchable user-friendly database, HandsOn Connect, outreach, and education matches people with options that best fit their interests, schedules, and locations. Partner organizations providing essential services depend on volunteers' support and resources to meet vital organizational needs and solve community challenges.

Arlington Heights Memorial Library brought together more than 30 local organizations for its annual Volunteer Fair at Pioneer Park Gymnasium on May 17th!

That afternoon, community members of all ages explored meaningful ways to give back and connect with causes they care about. HandsOn Suburban Chicago was proud to join many of our valued Community Partners to promote volunteer opportunities and civic engagement.

HandsOn Suburban Chicago (HOSC) is dedicated to connecting people who want to make a difference with the nonprofits that need them most. Each year, we mobilize thousands of volunteers to mentor students, serve older adults, support food pantries, and strengthen local communities.

But on April 25, 2025, we were blindsided: AmeriCorps abruptly terminated our Volunteer Generation Fund (VGF) grant without notice or transition period. That grant was the backbone of our volunteer and civic engagement programs. It helped us connect community members to critical needs and nonprofits to vital support.

Please consider donating and/or sharing our GoFundMe!
