Our Lions made the annual trek up to Camp Red Leaf in Ingleside to provide desserts, snacks and beverages for the blind, visually impaired and hearing-impaired campers. A number of Lions Clubs pick a day of the week to provide the goodies.

Thanks to Kilwins Arlington Heights for providing 60 cups of ice cream for us to serve to the campers.

Join us for our next club meeting on Tuesday, June 16 at 7:00 p.m. (social at 6:30 p.m.) and check us out at Sports Page on Rand. You can order food if you would like (we often do).

We are all volunteers and we welcome any potential members.

It's open to anyone who wants to help the community and beyond. You can devote any hours you have available, even just a couple hours a month. And we have fun!

Invite others to join you!

One of our most amazing supporters throughout the year is Thuringer Gourmet Meat Market of Arlington Heights!

Thuringer is a GREAT partner with our Lions throughout the year, as well as other organizations in the community! They supply our hot dogs for several of our Lions events, for the Foundation Fighting Blindness Chicago VisionWalk where our Lions grill up the lunch, and they participate in and sponsor our annual Chili Cook Off.

Thuringers has been a proud family tradition for over 40 years. They carry a very wide variety of beef, lamb, steak, chicken, pork, hot dogs and cheeses. They aim to offer only quality and fresh merchandise. Many of the products are from local farmers.

We are coming up on Summer and nothing better for a break from grilling in the heat is Photos Hotdogs in Palatine on NW Highway.

Owner Jim Photopoulos (go Bison!) cooked up some chili for many of you at our cookoff, but his menu goes far and wide beyond chili. Check out his restaurant when you need a break from the heat and some good food.

Thank you Jim for being such a great supporter of our community, and not only the Arlington Heights Lions, but MANY charities throughout the suburbs!

Thank you!

In 1925, author and disability rights advocate Helen Keller spoke at the Lions Clubs International Convention 1925 held in Cedar Point, Ohio.

During her address, she challenged members of Lions Clubs International to support people who are blind and to work toward preventing blindness. In that speech, she used the phrase “Knights of the Blind in the crusade against darkness.”

Following this event, Lions Clubs International expanded its service focus to include vision-related programs, which remain a major part of the organization’s work today.

Our Arlington Heights Lions proudly marched in the Memorial Day parade along with the help of Boy Scout Troop 32 who carried our jumbo American flag. Thanks to Lion Tina for bringing a huge supply of doggy treats to give out to the pet owners.
