Folks, we had a really fun event this past Saturday. It was the Backyard BBQ for monthly donors and volunteers. We had live music, good food and lots of conversation. It definitely had the feel of a family gathering. Fitting, because we do think of our supporters as part of a big Viator House family.

This event was us to show how much we appreciate our volunteers and monthly donors. They support Viator House in multiple ways, and we really wouldn't exist without them. Thanks again to them for all they do!

Special thanks goes to Viator House volunteers, Beth Linnen and Greg Petry for their help on Saturday. Beth made everything look great, and Greg is a grill master! Big thanks go to Father Mike for his excellent piano playing too. Thanks for entertaining us, Father Mike.

Folks, we had another great event with the Viator House Young Professionals Group. Yesterday, we met up with YPG-ers at Lemon Chicago https://www.lemonchicago.net/ for cocktails, fun and fellowship. We were joined by lots of passionate and curious young people who wanted to know more about Viator House and how they can get involved.

Of course, nobody tells the Viator House story better than Father Corey. He fielded plenty of thoughtful questions too.

We are grateful for Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Schaumburg https://www.princeofpeace.net/ for being a VHH Faith Community Partner for many years, offering supplies, volunteers and financial donations each year.

Hey Folks, we're happy to introduce to you a couple new members to the Viator House team.

Please welcome Amy DeLeon as a our new Operations Manager. Amy is a Chicago-born daughter of Mexican immigrants and brings a wealth of accounting experience with a specialty in fiscal operations for non-profit organizations and small businesses. We're fortunate to have her on board. Please make her feel welcome, everybody!

Another big Viator House welcome is due for Father Michael Shanahan. He's been with us for a little while now, and is great fit for the Viator House family. As a Case Manager, he brings deep knowledge and compassion to his work with our participants. He's a great piano player too!

You'll get to hear his piano playing at the Backyard BBQ for monthly donors and volunteers on June 20th at 2p.m. If you're a volunteer or a monthly donor, come out for some good food, live music and fellowship. It's going to be a lot of fun. This is a free event and space is limited, so please RSVP to Ben Gray at [email protected].

It was a big honor for us to be acknowledged today by the National Immigrant Justice Center .

Today was their 27th Annual Human Rights Awards reception and luncheon. Viator House was awarded their Community Change Award!

It was a great event and we enjoyed being part of the inspirational and uplifting afternoon.

Special thanks to the NIJC for all the work you do in support of immigrants and the human rights advocacy. Thank you!

This week we celebrate four high school graduations! Imagine escaping violence at home and coming alone to our nation, far from family, learning a new language - and then graduating in less than three years in that new language. That is what happened because of the hard work and intelligence of our four participants - and the staff and volunteer tutors who supported them. We're so proud!
