There's been a lot of advocacy work happening at Viator House lately. The times we're living in requires us to speak up to educate and inform the public about immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers.

Your voice is important too and we'd like you to join us for our next advocacy event. It's our monthly demonstration for immigrant rights in Arlington Heights.

Two weeks from today, Friday, October 23rd is our monthly peaceful demonstration in support of asylum seekers and refugees.

Arlington Heights Road & Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights.

Make a respectful sign and jump in. We encourage you to bring friends who want to speak out with you!

Folks, here's a quick reminder to please join us October 6th for this important event.

Currently, unaccompanied minors who have arrived at our border are losing their lawyers, facing increased threat of deportation, and family members are afraid to seek their release from Federal detention.

On Tuesday, October 6, join Viator House of Hospitality and our partners - The Young Center For Immigrant Children's Rights and the League of Women Voters.

Come learn more about national polices that are hurting kids in our nation alone and how you can advocate for their change.

Just like the young men who call Viator House home, these kids need your voice - and some of them might even call Viator House home in the near future.

Thank you for hosting to The Turkish American Society of Chicago, a VHH Faith Community Partner.

This Is a free event and no registration Is required. We hope to see you there!

Hey folks, we're excited to share with you our newest video about Viator House. It gives an up close look at life in the house and does a great job of showing the work we do.

We produce a video every few years to share with y'all, but we think this one is the best yet. Please take a few minutes to watch and share the video with anyone who might like to know more about Viator House.

Special thanks to Bill DeMarco and all the fine folks at WLD Productions for creating this video. Great job, guys!

Folks, we've got a great story to share with you this week. As we commemorate the Catholic Church's National Migration Week, we're celebrating with "Mehmet", a Kurd from Turkey who fled home alone at 17 because of violence against him and his culture, promoted by that nation's leadership.

Mehmet won asylum this week!

Something that only happened because he could come to Viator House on his 18th birthday. VHH provided him with a lawyer and an opportunity to safely build a life in the U.S.

And he has built it well, graduating from high school, working hard, saving money, sending money home to help his family and now starting college classes. This story is what National Migration week is about. Mehmet is Muslim. So this week we are particularly proud that as a home founded by Catholics, we welcome young men from all faith traditions, helping them practice the faith of their choice.

Thanks for your support and helping to make stories like this happen. Please use the link below if you'd like to donate and commemorate National Migration Week.

We are honored to say that because we partner with 26 Muslim, Christian & Jewish faith communities, VHH was featured this week as an example of interfaith work for justice at an international conference on interfaith peace building efforts around the world. The NYC conference included a boat ride in New York's harbor, where we were reminded that the VHH family of staff, volunteers, faith and civic community partners, and donors hold Lady Liberty's torch for our current and former participants - especially during these hard and frightening times for asylum seekers. Thanks for holding that torch high with us! We Choose Welcome Viatorians Viatorian Young Adults

Folks, thanks so much for joining us this past Saturday for the Taste of Viator House. Thanks to you, we had another great event this year. Viator House board member Carla Karijolich, (pictured), inspired us all with her keynote speech, we heard funny and very moving reflections from the Viator House participants, and all the silent auction items got bids!

We appreciate receiving feedback from a lot of you and hearing that you enjoyed the food and the speakers, and the ease of seating. We'll keep working to make this a smoothly run, enjoyable event.

Please check out the other photos too. It was our pleasure to honor some our closest supporters - Carolyn Nopar, Julie Baker, and The Presbyterian Church of Palatine. We caught folks enjoying themselves also.

The Taste of Viator House is our big fundraiser of the year and your support at the event makes everything we do possible. If you weren't able to attend this year's Taste, we'd love it if you made a donation today using this donation link: https://bit.ly/4qQKDuI

We appreciate your support!

Folks, the Taste silent auction is live! You don't have to attend the event to bid, so go ahead and register here: https://app.galabid.com/taste2026/register

Once registered, go ahead and bid on some of the great items we have up for auction this year. It's a nice mixture of sports and theater tickets, neighborhood experience packages, and w**e and food.

Here's a highlight of the auction, it's a luxury weekend in Lincoln Park with bed and breakfast gift card, a massage, Steppenwolf passes and dinner at Summer House Santa Monica. That's going to be a lot of fun for somebody. Hope one of y'all gets it!

Hey folks, the Taste of Viator House, our big fundraiser of the year, is next Saturday! It's one of the best ways to find out what Viator House is all about and it's a lot of fun hanging out with the Viator House family. Tickets are going fast, but we've got room if you'd like to join us. Ticket link is below.

The silent auction is going live next week! There are lots of great items this year, but we're highlighting this special item.

It's four VIP passes to Dennis Watkins' Magic Parlour. We hosted a performance by Dennis last year and it was truly an unforgettable experience.

“Dennis Watkins is Chicago’s premiere resident magician.” – Chicago Tribune

Inspired by the history of parlour magic as its own unique genre, Dennis
Watkins’ The Magic Parlour offers an intimate magical experience for only 60 guests per performance.

VIP passes include admission into the Encore Room. The Encore Room follows select performances of The Magic Parlour, allowing you to experience Watkins’ world-class sleight of hand in an even more intimate and exclusive setting.

The Encore Room also provides guests the unique opportunity to participate in a Q&A with Watkins!
