BATTLE WORN

ARC Rising has been very busy behind the scenes in recent days working with our communities to address several crises.

We need your help to share these two lovable mutts and build a movement to respond when solutions and healing are needed on the Reservation.

LAYLA

In recent weeks, we’ve been aware of a senior female roaming the streets of Pablo, crossing the highway, begging for handouts, without a place to go at night and suffering from a tumorous growth on her lip. We were finally able to move her from the streets and into a safe, loving home yesterday with a dear, dear friend. We now need to schedule a procedure to assess her overall health and remove the tumor, which has been causing her distress. The overall cost should be under $500.

💚 We would appreciate the community’s help. If you would like to chip in to cover part of the cost for Layla’s care, please contact us through messenger. 💚

BURT REYNOLDS

At the same time, we’ve been following the case of a dog that mysteriously showed up in a remote western part of the Mission Valley. He had been sighted numerous times over the past three weeks. Locals were concerned for his well-being. We are happy to report that he is now safe with another good friend of ours, but he will not be able to stay there long.

💜 We urgently need to find a safe foster home for lovable Burt. 💜

We have no idea where he came from or how he sustained injuries to that lovable face, but we’ve already learned that Burt is friendly (although shy, which is not surprising given his recent ordeal) and rather mellow. He has befriended the resident female pooch, although he’s a little too flirty, so we will be neutering him asap. He initially ignored the many resident cats but now seems to be showing more interest, so it’s premature for us to know how well he would do in a home with cats.
