PUBLIC NOTICE: There is a Significant Severe Weather Threat for our area tomorrow, mainly in the late overnight hours. All Modes of Severe Weather including Strong Tornados will be possible during this event. This is one of the most Deadly Scenarios when Tornados are possible during the overnight hours.

DO NOT PLAN ON OUTDOOR TORNADO SIRENS TO WAKE YOU UP TO SEEK SHELTER. Our system is still operating on less than HALF the normal sirens, plus Tornado Sirens are NOT DESIGNED TO WAKE YOU UP, only to inform anyone outdoors to go indoors and seek shelter.

Please begin now to make plans on when and where to seek shelter if Severe Weather threatens your home or location. We will be posting more information throughout the day tomorrow as the forecast updates or any changes to the timing of the event are made.

Stateline Road Update

On Monday, March 27th, County Commissioners met to discuss Stateline Road. In addition to the Commissioners, Arkoma, Fort Smith, Pocola, ODOT, Frontier MPO and Senator Mark Wayne Mullins office were represented at the meeting.

A long-term comprehensive rebuild plan was discussed, with shared responsibility among multiple parties.

In addition, both the county and the City of Fort Smith have agreed to increased maintenance and repair to improve the road conditions until the long-term solution can be implemented.

We look forward to continued progress!

Simple acts of Kindness Challenge: #1 Give A Wave

In the not-too-distant past, our little community had one of the best, small town, friendliest and community feelings of any small town in Oklahoma. I want to see that brought back and I want to pose a few simple acts of kindness to my fellow residents. These acts won't by themselves, change the hearts and minds of anyone who feels that the town is too far gone, but they will encourage the others of us, the majority I think, who love this small town and would like to see it improve and that goes for the overall feeling of community and friendliness.

Most of these challenges won't cost anything other than a little effort and maybe a little push to get you out of your comfort zone a little, change some bad habits or to even begin think about your neighbors in a little different light.

To start this off my 1st simple act of kindness that we ALL can do is simply Wave!!!

Yep, that's right just wave at others to say Hi… As you pass someone on the street, in a car or in their yard, simply give a small wave and maybe a quick smile... I already do this a lot of the time, but I can’t tell you how much it really encourages me, maybe even makes my day a little brighter when someone waves first or waves back.

I’m not asking you to wave your hands around or stick you arm out the window or anything, that is unless you want too…lol…. Just lift a couple of fingers off the steering wheel or maybe your hand a little if you’re driving… If you’re a passenger, just stick your hand up where it can be seen or something simple.
If we all will try to do something simple like waving at each other every day, things will slowly be steadily change… and our town will once again return to the wonderful place to live, raise a family and call HOME that I love so dear…
