Feral Friends of Lake Pepin

Feral Friends of Lake Pepin Our mission is to ease the suffering due to overpopulation by TNR and adoption of vulnerable Kitties. Fixed ferals quickly become community cats.

MISSION: Feral Friends of Lake Pepin is a community TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) effort to reduce the numbers of feral cats over time by eliminating their reproduction ability. During the time of their treatment, all cats are vaccinated for rabies; are treated for parasites and eye conditions (if found); have one of their ears notched for identification as a fixed feral; and are returned to their terr

itories. When feral kittens are caught young, they typically go to a partnering no-kill shelter that cares for them until they are old enough to be fixed, during which time most become socialized, making them adoptable. If not caught young, their chances of becoming socialized are greatly reduced, and kittens are returned to their territory after fixing. Their behaviors change — they are less aggressive and territorial, and many will strike up a friendship, albeit cautioned, with their community caregivers. Life as a strictly-outdoor cat remains difficult, however; to the extent that the community can pitch in to care for these creatures with food, water, and a warm and safe place to take shelter, improves their quality of life. You can make donations on our website, www.feralfriendsoflakepepin.org, or be old school and mail us a check at PO Box 23, Pepin, WI 54759. Thank you for your support!
