First official training day for the Cherokee strip F.O.O.L.S. Was an absolute success. While everyone else was trying to figure out what to do with one of the first hot days of summer, we were putting sweat equity into ourselves and each other. Confined space boxes for SCBA confidence and ropes basic training.

Tradition is a key factor to the Cherokee strip F.O.O.L.S. Even though it isn’t a Cherokee strip fools event, we always love attending the retiree luncheons put on by retired firefighters from Arkansas city Ks. We hope this is a tradition we can help maintain and grow! To all Arkansas city Ks previous firefighters/ EMS providers: Thank you for lighting, maintaining, and passing the torch of the fire service to us! We hope to make you proud!

Earlier this morning, Cherokee Strip F.O.O.L.S. conducted physical fitness testing for two new applicants.

RFB - remember fallen brothers

FF Mike Altman of the Chicago Fire Department, assigned to Truck 47, was critically injured March 16th while doing what he always did- putting others first. After some time in Cook County Hospital’s burn unit, he has tragically has passed away from his injuries.
