Our Housing Program, Project Going Home, is currently in need of a few household items to help families transitioning into safe, stable housing.

We are looking for:
• Couches
• Chairs
• Dining tables and chairs
• Dressers
• Nightstands
• Mattresses
• Bed frames

If you have any of these items in good, usable condition and would be willing to donate them, please let us know. Every donation helps make a house feel more like a home for the individuals and families we serve. Contact Sabrina at 580.226.3750.

⚠️ Community Safety Alert: Online Dating Safety Awareness ⚠️

We have seen an increase in reports nationwide involving assaults and other crimes connected to online dating platforms. While most people use these platforms safely, it's important to take precautions when meeting someone for the first time.

💜 Consider these safety tips:

Meet in a public place with plenty of people around.
Tell a trusted friend or family member where you are going and who you are meeting.
Share your location with someone you trust.
Arrange your own transportation to and from the meeting.
Avoid sharing personal information such as your home address, workplace, or financial details.
Trust your instincts. If something feels off, you do not owe anyone your time or explanation.
Avoid excessive alcohol or substances that may impair your judgment during a first meeting.

Remember: If someone chooses to harm, manipulate, or assault another person, the responsibility lies solely with the offender. Safety tips can reduce risk, but no one is ever responsible for violence committed against them.

If you or someone you know has experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or dating violence, support is available. You do not have to navigate it alone.

The Family Shelter of Southern Oklahoma is located at spot 27 at the Sand Bass Festival in Madill from June 1st to June 4th, 2026 (11am -5pm)

Just like our services, everything on the FSSO table is FREE, including FREE walk-in "mini" GPS vehicle detection scans with AirGuard app training from June 1st to June 4th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

AND, while supplies last, we have FREE drink coasters to hand out that contain two (2) test strips to test a beverage for the presence of date r**e drugs (GHB and Ketamine).

The Family Shelter of Southern Oklahoma (FSSO), Jessica Kindt, and FSSO volunteer / HFMC Food Pantry Gwen Wilson will be at the Sand Bass Festival in Madill from June 1st - June 4th, set up at spot 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In partnership with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, FSSO Jessica will be offering FREE walk-in “mini” GPS vehicle detection scans with AirGuard app training from June 1st - June 4th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

AND, while supplies last, we will have FREE drink coasters to hand out that contain (2) test strips to test a beverage for the presence of date r**e drugs (GHB & Ketamine).

***Due to safety, you will be directed to take a short drive nearby to a secure location for the "mini" GPS vehicle detection to be performed.***
