When you leap into what God wants you to do, it often throws you completely out of your comfort zone over and over again.

There’s been so many times especially in the last couple years where I’ve questioned, ā€œWhy God?!ā€

It’s been pretty brutal at times and not going to lie, there’s been instances where I’ve had to consider whether this is even meant to be.

Awhile back someone shared how so many people, God used in the Bible were put through all kinds of different trials. Those trials ultimately allowed them to be used mightily by God.

I’m not sure how God will utilize Freedom but it’s my desire that He utilizes it for His Glory.

I’m learning that as painful as it may be, those doors that God closes is often so that He can open doors I never knew I/We needed.

Can’t wait as things are beginning to fall into place for Freedom Reins and all the incredible people involved in making a difference in the youth of our communities.ā¤ļø

We at Freedom Reins Youth Ranch would cordially like to invite you to come out and celebrate Teea’s official retirement party!

Teea, a 29 yr old Arabian mare, was rescued back in 2015 from the Stroud kill pen by her current owner Jan Hollis.

Prior to officially opening for session our very first yr, we were offered Teea as a free lease to be used in our Stable Moments program.

Teea has served our youth beyond our wildest expectations!

I initially had some concerns as she dealt with several health issues that impacts her ability to maintain normal weight.(equine vet cleared her to participate in our ground based program).

I wasn’t sure if the kids would want to even entertain the possibility of matching up with her.

Teea proved my concerns were unnecessary. She has been the most popular horse out of all the horses at Freedom.

In our program we allow the kids and horses to choose each other.

Every single child Teea chooses either deals with low self esteem, insecurity, lack of patience or lack of emotional control.

She is a master at knowing exactly what to do to build a child’s confidence, patience and emotional control.

She expects each young person to approach her with a calm demeanor or she is turning and walking away until they regulate themselves. At that point she will turn around and walk up to them to be haltered.

The very first few sessions:

With a timid or a youth that has anger/patience struggles, she will drop her head to graze every few feet.

From most people’s perspectives she looks like she’s being a brat.

But she knows exactly what she’s doing.

Kids that are timid, that abrupt pause as she drops her head, allows them to stop and breathe for a few seconds. As well as build their confidence in handling a horse by learning they have the power to lift her head and continue.

Kids that are impatient or struggle with anger:

She knows it ticks them off when they are trying to go somewhere and she keeps dropping her head to grace.

She won’t stop doing it with that child until they learn to take a breath and calm their emotions. Once she’s got them trained šŸ˜‰ she no longer does it.

FYI she will not drop her head during camp days no matter the child.
She knows when it’s her lesson kids.

Those are only a couple of ways she has helped her kids.

It only takes looking into those big soft brown eyes to see the love and intelligence she has.

We will miss seeing her patiently waiting at the gate for her kids to come get her.

With a more visible decline due to cancer and other age related ailments , her time of serving her kids is coming to a close.

We would love for you to join us on the 25th as we spoil her with love one last time before she goes home with her owner.

Whether you’ve met her in person or have followed on fb, you are welcome to come join us!

Activities:

-Brush Teea
-help make/decorate her horse friendly cupcakes.
- watch her eat her cupcakes
-get a professional photo with her that will be emailed to you.

Refreshments will be provided.

RESPECT

Everyone wants RESPECT.

The part that so many miss in that journey, is the fact that respect must be earned.

Horses are not mindless robots that do whatever you command.

If you observe horses in a herd, it is clear that there is an alpha(leader).

The alpha has to prove to every single horse in the herd that they are deserving of respect and are qualified to be their leader. Typically it will be a mare(female horse).

This alpha will have the ability to move every single horse’s feet in the herd with just her body language.
šŸ’„pinned ears
šŸ’„stretched out neck
šŸ’„charging
šŸ’„kicking
šŸ’„biting etc

That’s something we can translate into the relationship between kids and their horses.

šŸ’„Clear communication helps us get the results we are looking for.
šŸ’„2 eyes demonstrate focus and respect.
( a horse that doesn’t respect you is not going to offer you two eyes but rather two heels)
šŸ’„Setting healthy boundaries
(Your horse should not come into your personal space without permission and always respectfully)
šŸ’„Must be black and white with no shades of grey.
(Be clear and concise in your requests)
šŸ’„Acknowledge/reward the correct behavior.
(Allowing your horse to stop, rest and process the information is their greatest reward)
