DON’T FEAR WATERCOLOR!
Special Watercolor Workshop

Wednesday, May 27 | 7–9 PM
Lower Gild Hall

Curious about watercolor but not sure where to start? This relaxed, beginner-friendly class is the perfect introduction. Instructor Cookie Ohlson will demonstrate a variety of brush and painting techniques, and you’ll have plenty of time to try them yourself.

No drawing experience needed—the design is provided! By the end of the evening, you’ll head home with your own original lighthouse painting, ready to welcome summer.

Cost: $20
Materials: All supplies are included, though you’re welcome to bring your own. Cookie will provide high-quality Arches paper and Winsor & Newton paints and will explain why they make a difference.

Space is limited to 12 participants, so reserve your spot early by emailing [email protected]. Payment can be made via Venmo (payment info sent upon registration) or in cash if you see Cookie on an Arden path.

Life Is Better If You Draw It," led by Betty O'Regan. Inspired by the book by Koosje Koene

Discover the joy of keeping an illustrated journal-a creative blend of words, drawings, collage and paint that captures the beauty of everyday life. No perfection required! This is your personal playground for observation, storytelling, relaxation and creative exploration.

Some materials will be provided, but feel free to bring: pens (ballpoint, markers, gel pens); colored pencils, crayons, or watercolors; paper of any kind (sketchbook, computer paper, recycled paper bags, etc. or sturdier paper if you plan to paint); curiosity, enthusiasm, and a small donation if you're able.

Need a sketchbook? If you'd like us to provide one, please let us know when you register by emailing [email protected] Sketchbooks are $5, and once you register you'll receive a Venmo link for prepayment. Payment must be received by April 15.

For inspiration, be sure to follow the Arden Arts & Crafts Gild page, where we'll be posting a few short intro-to-sketchbooking videos ahead of the event.

Get creative and functional with this hands-on class! Join us to hand-build and decorate a beautiful flower pot, perfect for plants or as a decorative piece. Your piece will be fired and ready for pickup the following month.

Our instructor, MaryLou Robinson, with experience teaching at Jester Art Space and Newcastle County Parks and Recreation, will guide you through the process with energy and enthusiasm. Expect a spirited class where you can unleash your creativity and take home a unique, handmade treasure.

Seventeen hardy souls braved the cold temps on Wednesday and joined the Arden Arts & Crafts Gild for oil painting with Janet Williams. Thank you, Janet, for joining us. We had a great time!

This Saturday, the Arden Dinner Gild is celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Arts & Crafts Gild, and Jill Althouse-Wood and Pat Toman have a winderful menu for us to enjoy. Afterwords, join us downstairs for make-and-take greeting (Valentine? Birthday? Thinking of you?) cards. If you aren’t participating in the dinner, join us around 7. See you there!

Stamped Gift Bag & Tag Workshop, Saturday, Dec 6, 7 pm

Come upstairs after you've finished eating for a cozy, creative evening as we celebrate the season with a Gift Bag/Tag Workshop — right after our Community Dinner!
