WNC Troop 26

WNC Troop 26 Boy Scout Troop 26, Arden NC Troop 26 has been very active in the Avery Creek community for over 50 years. Come and visit us anytime.

We have a strong troop that has consistently achieved the Quality Unit and Centennial Unit Awards for many years. In 2011, 12, 13 & 14 we recieved the Gold Level Award for Journey to Excellence! Thanks to the generous families in the Avery Creek Community and through the efforts of our Scout Charter Organization, Avery Creek United Methodist Church, we are proud to call Camp Stephens "Long-Pine" c

amp, on the beautiful banks of the French Broad River, our home. We meet on Mondays at 7:00 PM, unless the Buncombe County Schools are closed.

Ok...stock photos while wait to get ours...but the Rockets Red Glare America 250 trip is in the books. We wrapped things up with some awesome rafting in New River Gorge (WV)! Oh, and our raft guide goes by the name Squatch - short for Sasquatch. And he looked it. Great guide, great day, great trip. Your Troop 26 American History ambassadors will be reporting back with quite the presentation!

Alrighty...quite the day spent at Gettysburg between multiple tours, museum and all. The Scouts enjoyed it all, including Little Round Top, Pickett's Charge, Seminary Ridge, the National Cemetery, the real place Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address, Devils Den, and on. Great staff everywhere we went!

Some more fun items from our time yesterday at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. John Coltrane's saxophone, Dizzy Gillespie's trumpet, the real Star Wars druids, the roadside from the set of MASH (parents item), an ancient boom box (parents item) original grouch and elmo, Raiders of the Lost Ark costume, Prince's guitar...you get the idea. Lots of fun!
