🚨URGENT NEEDS
I don’t post often but this post may make some people angry and if you comment a nasty comment…don’t resond because I won’t waste my time responding.
First, I say thank you to each person who has ever donated to Mountain Hope. As you know, if you donate through the link, you receive an instant receipt for taxes. You have helped so many with your donations over the past yr and half. I am humbled by those who have supported us.
Next, if you are one of the many who are sitting there in your warm cozy house reading my post and your first thoughts are, “ It has been a year since Helen and “ THESE PEOPLE “ should be back to normal by now, “ well with all due respect…KEEP SCROLLING and add you words of wisdom to some other post. Truth is, many will live out the remainder of their lives in a shed people call tiny homes but are no more than the storage shed in my back yard or in campers. It takes 10 plus years to recover from losing homes, cars, jobs, personal belongings.
People make mistakes. People make bad decisions. We ALL have! But if you are a Christian, and IF you ask God to forgive you and try to make good decisions, God forgives and so should we. He still loves us when we mess up! But people can change. They can try to do better. If you don’t have family or friends who can help lend a hand, and you hit a crisis situation, you too could find yourself homeless, sleeping in a car. If you say, “Oh no..I would never find myself in that situation…PRIDE COMES BEFORE A FALL!” You might just be next to fall!
Here is the reality. YES, there are people who take advantage of the system and need to be stopped. Yes, there are MANY who struggled before the storm but it took that storm to knock them to the edge if a cliff so to soeak and thrt are just hanging on by their fingernails from the cliff. Now rather than making it pay day to pay day, they have to be lowered to basically begging for help to just get basic essentials. They have to maneuver through the nasty tangled web of what nonprofit is legit and which ines are in it for the money . They deal with scammers every time they post a need for housing because EVIL individuals take advantage of their desperation to be able to have housing. Camp ground owners are charging individuals the price of renting a house and then refusing any maintenance, often forcing the individuals to live in conditions that are without septic, water or heat. THIS is happening across many counties and multiple states.
As these people, who were already struggling with the extra cost of jacked up rent prices, car repairs, dr bills etc, many have PTSD from the storm. Yet they can’t afford counseling or meds. Many have been made to feel like beggers and are literally wondering if life is worth living if they are treated worse than animals. When they ask for help, people on the other side of the phone or behind the desk treat people like there must be something wrong with them to find themselves needing help.
Nothing against animals. Mine are part of my family but something is wrong with you if you can care more for an animal in need than a person in need! And many do!!!
There are many who I know of right now in this bitter cold who need your support. I haven’t asked for support or asked to donate to Mountain Hope in a while, but Im asking am today. Here s what your donations will go to:
✅Hotel rooms for people who were/are living in unsafe campers and trying to get into alternative housing. These are individuals who are in contact with local agencies and are waiting to get into alternative housing. Some are in campers and some in cars!
✅Groceries for those in hotels.
✅Car repairs
✅winterizing campers so they can go back to campers where the lines froze
✅Basic utilities such as phones, because they have to have a phone to connect to organizations , drs etc
✅Dr bills- medication
✅food
✅heaters or heating bills
✅And right now I know of two families who desperately need a camper or AFFORDABLE housing, which is rare to find.
